How To Promote Your Podcasts If you really want to succeed with podcasting then you need to spend the majority of your time on promotion. Yes you need to spend time creating high value podcasts that your listeners will love. But if you don’t promote your podcasts then you will only ever have a small listener base. We recommend that you spend around 30% of your time on podcast creation and the other 70% on promotion. You can never have enough listeners so this is something that you need to work at all of the time. In this article we will provide you with some great ways to promote your podcasts. Upload to the Podcast Directories There are many podcast directories where potential listeners hang out looking for new content. The most popular by far is iTunes which accounts for around 70% of podcast listeners according to a major survey. So you must upload your podcasts on iTunes. There are other popular podcast directories such as Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, TuneIn and SoundCloud. Upload your podcasts to all of these. Spend time finding other podcast directories by searching on Google. Invite Guests and Leverage their Following Identify guests that can add value to your podcasts and invite them for interviews. Some of these people have large followings and you can ask your guests to promote the joint podcast show you have created. If you create a good podcast with your guest then some of their followers will want to listen to more of your podcasts. Influencer marketing can really work well for podcast promotion. Find influencers on social media and ask them to make a guest appearance in exchange for recommending your podcasts. Use Social Media for Podcast Promotion Whatever you think of social media it is a great way to get the word out about your podcasts. If you have your own social media accounts then make a post about each of your podcasts and encourage your family and friends to listen to them and leave you good reviews. If your social media following is fairly small then you can run a Facebook contest for example to gain more followers and promote your podcast. People love getting things for nothing and the chance to win something valuable. Identify the social media channels that best match your target audience. Instagram and Snapchat are for younger audiences whereas Facebook and Twitter tend to appeal to older audiences. If you are in a B2B niche and want to get the attention of businesses then you must use LinkedIn to promote your podcast. Create Professional Cover Art for your Brand We recommend that you create some stunning and appealing cover art for your podcast. You can use this on the podcasting directories and also on your other channels such as your website or blog and social media. If you are not an expert with Photoshop then head over to Fiverr.com and pay someone with the talent a few bucks to create the cover art for you. With high quality cover art you will create a good impression for your podcast. Get a lot of Positive Reviews These days reviews guide people to take action or not. If you have no reviews for your podcast then this will put off a lot of potential listeners. When you first start out ask your family and friends to leave you a positive review on the different podcast directories. Ask your listeners to leave you a review in all of your podcasts. PODCASTING
How To Grow Your Podcasting Audience You can create the greatest, most informative and value packed podcasts in the world but if nobody is listening you are wasting your time. It is essential that you focus on growing your podcast listener base and we have some great ways that you can do that in this article. Identify your Strengths and Weaknesses If you have a small audience that are not always sticking with you and certainly not spreading the word about your podcasts then you need to make an honest assessment of your strengths and weaknesses. Ask yourself the following questions: * What do I do really well? * What assets do I have? * What are my weak areas and how can I address these? If you have a lot of competition in your podcasting niche then you need to think about how you can really stand out from the rest. Are you really connecting with your listeners? Are your podcasts boring and uninspiring? Are you Targeting a Specific Niche? It is far better for you to have a smaller listener base that really engage with your podcasts than a larger audience who do not really engage that much. The engaged listeners are far more likely to spread the word about your great podcast and leave you positive reviews. Choosing the right niche is essential to podcasting success and audience growth. If you go too broad then you will not engage as well as if you go narrower. Do your homework here and find out the demand for your niche by using the Google Keyword Planner to identify search volumes for related keywords on Google. Get to know other Podcasters Don’t see your competitors as the enemy. Look at them as an opportunity to network and grow your listener base. Be prepared to network with these people to your mutual benefit. See these people as your mentors and learn from them. Treat them with respect. When you connect with other podcasters take the opportunity to share tips on what has worked well when growing their listener base. Listen to their podcasts and if it is relevant and high quality then agree to promote each other’s podcasts. Even if you are just starting out, this can work really well. Invite Guests to your Podcasts Interviewing niche experts is a great way to grow your podcasting audience. It is likely that these people will already have a good following and you can ask them to promote your podcast with them to their followers. You always need to be professional when inviting guests for interviews. Agree the questions that you are going to ask them prior to the interview taking place. Spend time thinking about the right questions to ask that will satisfy your existing listeners. Agree to be a Guest on other Podcasts This starts with networking with other podcasters. Once you have developed a relationship then you can raise the subject of you being a guest on their show. Sometimes they will just ask you to do this themselves. Podcasters are always looking for new guests and fresh content. So make the most of your networking and get invited to as many podcasting shows as you can as a guest. Ask them to mention your show when you are a guest.

The Marketing Monster Won't Let Me Write
I love to write. Ideas for stories and articles are swimming in my head like guppies in a fish tank — always multiplying. I can’t get them onto paper fast enough. I love the process of writing down the ideas, organizing them, and turning them into eclectic pieces of reading material that are varied in their appeal — entertainingly amusing, heartfelt, thought-provoking, informational, or instructive.

Which Writing Platform Is Right For You?
I have been on Vocal since 2018 and Medium since 2019. When I first started on Medium, I ended up walking away from it for several months and more recently started posting there again. There has been a lot of frustration towards Vocal in multiple groups on Facebook. I have a few problems myself, but I still lean toward posting here and competing in the challenges.
