As I turn 26 years' old, I want to say a huge thank you to Vocal Media for making writing book reviews my favourite thing to do alongside reading books and for giving me an audience to talk to. The Owls of Crowned Oak Estate
The Crowned Oak Estate is a home nestled in the village of French Settlement, Louisiana. I happened to stumble upon it, by chance, shortly after my first husband died. I had known that I was ready to move forward in my life, my mom and I had been out all day looking at various homes and pieces of land on the market. Deep down, I was fighting the choice between buying an apartment in Nashville to live my biggest dreams, or finding a place my children deserved to call home. On one hand, I craved the rush and thrill of existing within a city, on the other I could envision chickens, flowers, orchards, tire swings, and the certain sense of accomplishment that comes from living a country life.

5 Things I Wish I’d Known When I Started Writing
A long time ago, I swore that I would never write about COVID. Good God Almighty, I fucking hate COVID. Except then, I got it, the first symptoms showing up on Christmas Day, like the world’s most fucked up present. I'm fine now (I think) but it was pretty scary for a while. Even though I was vaccinated twice over, I still had what amounted to a raging head cold, with an added dose of tight chest. It was miserable. Kids, if you take one lesson away from my experiences, it is this: get freaking vaccinated. I don't even want to think about what this disease will be like if you caught it without some antibodies in your system.

During the week between Christmas and New Year, I took some time off and regressed a little to my childhood by spending the mornings watching The Simpsons and eating cereal (and pancakes, on one occasion). It was while watching one of these episodes that I came to realise something important.

Nap Time Everyone
A famous and renowned philosopher and comedian, by the name of George Carlin once remarked, “People say, 'I'm going to sleep now,' as if it were nothing. But it's really a bizarre activity. 'For the next several hours, while the sun is gone, I'm going to become unconscious, temporarily losing command over everything I know and understand. When the sun returns, I will resume my life.' So, next time you see someone sleeping, make believe you're in a science fiction movie. And whisper, 'The creature is regenerating itself.”

Pigs In The Pulpit
PIGS IN THE PULPIT Chapter One • Welcome to the Pigpen March 1996 It was a typical Wednesday night service at Word of Faith Family Fellowship. At least from the outset it seemed to be. Show up at quarter to 7, greet the regulars, find our seats and start praise and worship at 7:00 P.M. sharp. Go through our standard four or five musical numbers, settle down to a series of announcements and then strap on our spiritual safety belts till 9:30 or beyond.

Hello My Name Is Antonio Westley
Coming from humble beginnings, I'd like to say that it's great to finally another place online where both readers and writers can enjoy themselves. It's not every day that creativity gets rewarded online, regardless how that may be defined. This platform seems to embrace that wholeheartedly and I for one (in my own form of expression) - am here for it.
