Inspiring Unicorns
An anonymous writer once gave this advice: “Allow your passion to become your purpose, and it will one day become your profession.” I know this to be true because what started as a childhood affinity for gifting my writings and drawings to friends and family, morphed into me finding ways for my creative work to inspire and support dreams as an author.

Let Me Introduce Myself....
First of all, thank you for reading this. I really didn’t think anybody would read this other than my wife. Welcome to what I hope would be the first of many blogs of random thoughts and rants that will hopefully make you think, laugh, share and discuss (and of course tip). I thought a good way to start this new relationship is to of course introduce myself. Now, despite the title of this page, I am a real breathing human being with feelings and not a robot. The title of this page is just a reflection of who I am. Despite my rather large stature (yeah I’m a big dude) you wouldn’t notice me if you saw me or engage me in conversation if you see me. I’m the human embodiment of the square peg in the round whole. I’m big but not athletic enough to be a jock and I’m nerdy but not nerdy enough to speak Klingon. The reason why I started this page because my wife thought it was a good idea to share my opinions and thought on the internet as a way to vent my frustrations, depressions and jokes (which means she got tired of me talking her head off). So let me tell you a little about myself and some of the topics I’ll be talking about in the future:

Healing Hearts
I walked out of law school fresh and new. It wasn’t really about the money at first. I had dreams of changing the world. I had accomplished a dual degree, and with a Juris Doctorate and a Masters of Environmental Law and Policy under my belt, I would show them what sustainable land law truly looked like in these rural states.

The Art of Cleaning
Who doesn’t love a fresh clean home? We stop and gaze at it in wonder and satisfaction. It’s relaxing and soothing because, if for no other reason, it’s done. The nagging chore checked off the to-do list. We’re aware we will have to do it again another day, but in the moment…this is bliss.

My Niche
I got acquainted with my love for bath and body products really young. Basically anything that could be used for hygiene, I was interested! My favorite aisles at any store would be ( in no particular order), dental care, face/skin products, travel size products, and body washes/lotions. I just love/d the steps in self care from top to bottom; There were a couple of summers in my preteens where I spent large parts of the day doing my own pedicures, YES I had time, like, detailed pedicures with polish and designs, I’d just about perfected a French tip by the time I was 13.

Creating
My name is Terri Flint. I am a self taught seamstress/sewer starting at about 8 or 9 years of age. My mom could only do basic mending and thought a machine might help her. She found one at a garage sale for I think $25. It sat in the box and she never used it. I asked if I could try and figure it out and she let me. I started looking at my doll and Barbie clothes to see how they were made. Before long I was making things by hand and on machine. I’ve always been an artsy person and love creating. In my teens started making clothing, purses, pillows and more for myself and others. I made my prom dresses too. I’ve always worked, did daycare in my home for years when I became a mom of two beautiful daughters. I took other jobs in banking and retail when I got divorced. I did sewing jobs for others, but very minimal because I was very busy as a single mom. When my daughters went to college, I decided to go to. I earned a degree in criminal justice and landed a job at a mental health non- profit organization. I became a supervisor of 7 different community programs and loved my job, my coworkers and my clients that we served. I love helping others! it was a perfect job for me. I believed so much in the mind, body, spirit connection and was always learning how to be a healthier person using essential oils, exercising, and eating well, not only because I wanted to be a healthy , energetic and strong grandma to keep up with my granddaughters. I also wanted to teach and share with all my clients. The agency I worked for allowed me to be creative and hold conferences for our clients where they could learn about alternative health. I was an activities coordinator where I got to plan and hold four dances a year with karaoke, take them on trips and outings and basically give them opportunities they wouldn’t be able to do on their own. I’m also a singer so guess who got to sing a lot and get paid for it! My clients were my biggest fans!

Creating My Happiness
As a five year old, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to be a fashion designer when I grew up. I have no idea where this far-fetched idea came from, as both my parents worked in Law and had no real interest in clothes, outside of ensuring Dad's work shirts were ironed properly for the day. If I think back, really hard, this probably stemmed from my obsession with Barbie dolls, despite being a quite short and tubby brown-haired, pale-skinned English girl. Who taught me the word "designer", we'll never know. All I know is that it became an obsession, from drawing outfits on every scrap of paper I could get my hands on, to endlessly observing every seam on every garment I came near and working out, in my mind, the shapes I thought made these clothes. In one memory, I distinctly remember creating a small, red velvet two piece from a pair of old burgundy velvet curtains, with a hexagonal pearl and metal button sewn on the front. As I pulled it on to one of my favourite dolls, I felt that this pathway of creation was just meant for me.

Formless
Growing up I was the girl who growled and barked on the playground. Every recess was a break that allowed me to catapult into another reality. Immersed in every day dream, I would pride myself on assuming my fictitious role to the best of my ability. This was the foundation of a much greater skill that I would one day harness into a hobby and side job.
