My Story
I have been a freelance blogger and writer for several years now. I started looking for something that I could do in my spare time (HA) as a new mom. So, I started out taking classes to become a medical transcriptionist. I could type fast and, had some medical training due to my career as a veterinary technician (animal nurse).

A Day in the Life
My story begins like most in the male category. The pursuit of happiness. Money, a car to be proud of, and the focal point of my impact on this world…women. The daily routine of watching friends and family finding happiness while enjoying minute things like furnished apartments, road trips with their significant other, and/or just enjoying the company of that other.

Choose Wisely, This Job Isn’t For Everyone.
I am a Photojournalist and a Technical Director. I spent the last 15 years working in Broadcast News. I have worked at four different news stations in the southeast. I find when people ask me about my work, I don’t have to explain the importance of my job. Instead, I have to correct various misconceptions about working for the press, and the television industry.

Confessions From The Color Bar
One day, I fixed my mother's thinning eyebrows with Maybelline eyeliner, and she cried. She told me her mother had pointed out her thin brows as a joke as a teenager. It was insecurity my mother never spoke of outwardly, but carried with her for many years. This new feeling of beauty she had from a small line of brown makeup was incredible. I knew I had made a difference.

Backstage
Everyone has their life figured out except for me. This is a thought I have often, especially as I continue to see my peers earn higher level degrees, find jobs in their desired fields, and achieve their dreams in various industries. I, on the other hand, have yet to find my calling.

Freedom!
I love my job because it gives me the freedom to do what I want, when I want to do it. I am an author. However, I publish independently. This has several distinct advantages, as well as a few disadvantages. The only person to hassle me about my deadlines is myself, the only ones that I have to answer to at all in fact are my two most fluffy and excellent feline mistresses, and they're happy with some food and a scritch behind the ears most days.

Getting Paid to Sit in Front of the Best Seats Money Can Buy
I remember as a teenager, standing in line all day to watch the recording of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The tickets were free, but we wanted those front-row seats, so we got in line early. I remember watching the crew work, thinking they had the best jobs in the world, but for some reason, I felt a gig like that was unattainable for someone like me. Thankfully, my preconceived notions of what was attainable for me were nothing less than sheer ignorance. Ten years later, an opportunity to get into sports television presented itself, and I took it.

The never-ending Goal
The world is a huge place to leave any impact. Therefore, we have to start small if we want to achieve anything in life. Don’t forget that we are all unique and that individuality is what makes us the better candidate to walk our path. Every day you can achieve something. In Portuguese, the fish does nothing – 'nada' – and swims – 'nada'. You have your pace. Don’t feel the need to accomplish anything if you don’t want to. Search within for your uniqueness!
