Listen, I know what you're thinking. There's that ugly word. "Survival Job." It's dripping with the kind of self-serving arrogance that all millennials seem to bathe in. A person ought to be grateful for whatever work they can get, right? A person ought to be happy that they've got food on the table, a roof over their head, and if they're exceptionally lucky, money to save.

Changing Careers. Top Story - August 2018.
I was never the type to have a five-year plan or clearly defined goals when it came to my career. I had one goal growing up which was to go to University, actively encouraged to do so by my parents although my decision was also influenced in part by the TV show A Different World. Silly but true. I even changed my choice of degree throughout the process as I started off wanting to study Journalism and then switched to Psychology and Criminology. But I was fortunate enough to be of the generation in which you could study something purely out of interest and not because it had to result in a job. I reasoned I would use those three years to explore the idea of being a probation officer or work in a completely different field (I ended up doing the latter).

A "side hustle" is something that people have been doing for years but has recently become more popularized with younger generations (like myself). The definition of a "side hustle" is typically any type of employment done in addition to a full-time job. Usually, this means a freelance job that is used to gain a few extra dollars or to start the beginning stages of a potential full-time career.
