If you want to reduce your operating costs, changing your company's communication through a Private Automated Branch Exchange (PABX) system is a good start.

The PABX system allows for intelligent internal communication, facilitating communication between employees and partners, providing security and reducing the costs of your company.

Before deciding which system is best for your business, you need to be familiar with the different options available to you.

I am going to cover the two main types of PBX systems, namely Analog PBX and Digital PBX.

There are subdivisions of these options, such as the distinction between cloud-based VoIP solutions, or between application-based and browser-based virtual systems.

Here are the types of PABX on the market:

Analog PABX

As the name states, this type of ABX system operates over telephone lines. In other words, the entire communication takes place via traditional telephones. The PABX communications server is maintained in its offices. This technology has been used for many years, and its stability compensates for its weight and lack of flexibility.

This system requires technical manpower for maintenance and to perform the correct installation.

Digital PBX

Digital telephone systems are more modern than analog ones. Currently, most digital systems, even if using hardware, offer an IP interface on the controller. The IP interface can enable unified messaging features, such as voicemail to email delivery, fax to email delivery, voicemail to SMS transcription, click to dial and a desktop client.

However, you should note that a good internet connection is required to support the volume of your call in a Digital PBX system.

In my opinion, small businesses should opt for a phone system on the cloud. Why?

Bringing a business idea from imagination to reality is a feat in itself. This entrepreneurial spirit should not be erased by the desire for a good phone system for small businesses. At any stage of growth, your company deserves to have the best telephone infrastructure.

Here are some reasons why a cloud-based phone system for small businesses is the ideal option.

1. It Reduces Interruptibility

In 2004, 80% of the world population had fixed lines. In 2020, fixed lines are on the way to be totally replaced by smartphones. Technology is evolving very quickly. There is no way to stop it. You need an advanced business phone system today to stay relevant in the near future. Otherwise, you will be stuck in the past.

2. Saves Money

Something that is common among small businesses is the fact that they do not have large budgets. For this reason, they need a commercial telephone system that does not weigh eat into their budget but is rich in resources. Local telephone systems, which require upfront costs, require outside vendors to set them up and take months only to take effect, are not the appropriate option. Digital systems, on the other hand, are quick to set up and operate and will save you tons of money in installation.

3. Effortless Operation

Making a call via a small business phone system should be as simple as calling from an ordinary phone. Extensive training is not necessary to understand how to use heavy hardware or some other telephone infrastructure. A system capable of maintaining simplicity is what you need.

4. Easier Global Communication

With your company expanding, you should be able to quickly expand your availability in multiple regions around the world. Your Australian customers may not be comfortable calling you on a Canadian number. They want to see a local Australian number that they feel comfortable calling. This creates the need for virtual phone numbers, which cannot be provided by analog phone systems - but are easily available on cloud-based phone systems.

5. Saves Time

The consumer market is an impatient animal. It does not wait for anyone or anything, proceeding fiercely at his own pace. Companies capable of keeping up with this pace are successful, while others are left behind. Case in point, your phone system should not slow your small business down from the competition. It should start working instantly and state-of-the-art digital phone systems are practically built for this purpose.
