Becoming A Bestselling Author

Welcome, all, to my incredible story of becoming a full-time author. It is hard work and determination to learn to become an author. After getting laid off from a very excellent-paying job, I could not move to another city due to limitations as my husband had a career in the DC area. I applied to numerous positions in the DC Metro area but could not find a job pertinent to my educational background. Since childhood, I have been a writer, so I thought of exploring this talent and my experience of doing business with India and the theory of the Indian buzzword Jugaad which was going through research at Harvard and Stanford University in those days. I conceptualized this word as “thinking outside the box.” I wrote a book and named it “The Modern Mughal Mentality – New Strategies to Succeed in India and the Global Marketplace. It was my first book, and being Ph.D. in Biochemistry, I knew how to do research in libraries. It is a labor of love and research to my lovely readers. The book became an instant bestseller on Amazon in a category. Also, it got the title of “Hot number-one new release on Amazon.’’

I had queried numerous literary agents to take this book to a big publishing house, but nobody agreed to take me under their umbrella. All the literary agents said that I did not have a following. So, I read about self-publishing thoroughly, and after doing risk and benefit analysis, I self-published my first book. To develop a concept of the book project and make that book a bestseller on Amazon requires a specific strategy which now I teach online to my clients. If you have a successful book, that book can open many closed doors for you.

Now the question in my mind was how to market this book. I did not have the funds to hire a prominent publicist. But, before publishing my first book, I taught online about India through various podcasts. So, I once again did research and came up with my TV show on a top-rated network among the Indian diaspora in the Washington DC area. I met the network owner in an Indian program selling my book. She was impressed with my book and invited me to host on her network. I immediately became a celebrity. My TV segment was loved by the millions who watched her network. So now I had a platform, but the show was only syndicated in the Washington DC area. I wanted a platform where the show is distributed worldwide. Thus, was born my Radio Show which eventually became a Radio plus TV show syndicated worldwide to 300 million listeners. Today I have two radio shows plus TV shows live streaming on the same network and each distributed to 300 million listeners. The platform problem is solved. I talk on my radio and TV shows about current affairs, fashion, Hollywood and Bollywood, Science, and alternative careers in science. All my shows are phenomenally successful. This strategy helps me to sell more books. Many of my fans have bought my books. I get to meet new people from all walks of life. I am in conversation on my shows with authors, publishers and business owners.

I had never thought that I would be an Amazon bestselling author of two books one day. The first book was a business book, and the second book was a science-fiction book. When my second book came, there was no trace of coronavirus. In my second book, “The Outbreak of A Monstrous Infection,” I wrote a fiction story about how a virus spreads and ruins the human population. I would love to hear how they coped up with losing a job and how they overcame this atrocity of not being with a job.

My advice is never to give up. Always try to be creative about how one can be successful.

Not having a following to having following in great numbers on all my social media platforms is an outstanding achievement for me. Now building the concept of my third book which will be out in 2022.
