A Vocal Table of Contents for My Stories

A better way to find my stuff

Mrs. Control Freak checking in here. I don’t care for the way in which Vocal has organized my stories on my profile page, so I have taken matters into my own hands.

As I told you in my story introducing myself, I write a LOT about a LOT of different stuff. And being a writer, I want you to read my stuff. Which you can’t do if you can’t find a story subject of mine that you are looking for.

My thanks to Vocal for their new innovations in addressing this “location” issue. They now allow me to “pin” 3 of my favorite stories to the top of my Profile Page, so I am assured that you see them. They also give you, the reader, the ability to find my diverse stories under their “Communities” tabs on my Profile Page. The problem with that is – If I can’t remember in which Community I listed my story, how are you going to know where it is.

There’s also that other problem that’s been with me since I started on Vocal. When I finish a story, I have difficulty figuring out into which Community it fits. I waste a ridiculous amount of time scrolling through Communities and sub-topics within those Communities trying to match my story to one of them.

For example, PetLife is straightforward. All my stories about dogs show up in PetLife. Makes perfect sense.

I don't recall where I put my whimsical story about the parallels between hurricane and blizzard reporting by television newscasters, but when published, I noticed it ended up in Science. I surely didn’t put it there, and if you wanted to read a whimsical story about hurricane and blizzard reporting, would you look in Science? Maybe you would, but I wouldn’t.

How did my whimsical article about me being mosquito bait end up in fiction, while my Owl Challenge story, which was pure fiction made up out of my imagination, end up in Secrets?

I don’t know the answer to those questions, so here is my personal solution. Below you will find a list, in alphabetical order, of the topics I have written about and links to each of the stories under those topics. Simple and straightforward.

Anytime you want to read a story/article/blog of mine, go to this Table of Contents Story, which will ALWAYS be pinned at the top of my Story Section, and click on it to find an organized, informative list of my work.

If you wish to use this format for your own Profile Page, I won’t mind as long as you cite and link to this article, giving me proper credit for the idea. Seems fair to me. You are welcome.
