How I Made ₹500 in One Day Online
Armed With Only Chai, Chaos, and a Little Bit of Jugaad

Let’s be honest. We’ve all had that one broke day where even ₹100 feels like a distant dream. For me, that day was a particularly dry Tuesday afternoon. My UPI app said ₹37.25. My stomach said biryani. Swiggy said ₹99.
Pain.
I sat on my bed with a laptop that sounded like it was powered by steam and made a resolution:
“Today, I will make ₹500 online. No scams. No crypto. No selling my kidney.”
I know what you’re thinking—Bhai, ₹500 kya hi hota hai?
But when you’re staring at Maggi for the third meal in a row, ₹500 feels like winning the lottery.
So, like any desperate desi dreamer, I turned to Google and typed those sacred words:
“How to earn money online fast in India (no investment, please)”
Google did what it always does—bombarded me with a mix of sketchy websites and aunties-turned-millionaires who apparently clicked ads for a living. I was about to give up when I found something that didn’t scream scam:
Vocal.Media — a legit platform that pays you to write stories.
As someone who’s been told “tu bahut bolta hai” since childhood, this felt like destiny.
I signed up immediately. Created a profile. Named myself The Unique Pen because why not romanticize your hustle?
Now came the tough part: What to write?
My mind went blank. Writer’s block on Day One—it felt like the universe was mocking me. But then I remembered that one legendary train ride from Delhi to Bangalore. The one where:
• I got stuck next to an overly friendly aunty who tried to fix my rishta
• I ate a stranger’s samosa by mistake (don’t ask)
• A random group of uncles forced me into an antakshari battle that lasted until 2am
It was equal parts chaos and comedy. I figured, if I can survive that journey, I can write about it.
So I started typing.
At first, it was slow. I’d write two lines, delete five. Sip chai. Stare at the ceiling. Scroll Instagram. Wonder if I should just sell socks on Flipkart instead. But something about that train story kept pulling me back in.
Three hours, one chai refill, and 17 rewrites later, I had my masterpiece.
I titled it: “The Train Journey That Almost Got Me Married (And Fed With Samosas)”
Catchy, right?
I hit PUBLISH with shaking hands and zero expectations. Then I did what any millennial would do—shared it on every platform known to man. WhatsApp groups, Instagram stories, even in my family group where everyone only replies with “👍”.
And then… I waited.
The first hour: 12 reads.
By lunch: 50 reads.
By evening: 212 reads.
I opened my Vocal dashboard and blinked twice.
Earnings: $6.12
I converted it—₹509.34. Dude. I DID IT!
It wasn’t millions, sure. But it was enough for biryani, extra raita, and that sweet feeling of main kuch kar sakta hoon yaar.
That one story gave me more than money—it gave me confidence. Proof that you don’t need to be famous, rich, or tech-savvy to earn online. Just a good story, some hustle, and enough chai to fuel your brain.
What I Learned:
• Your life is content. Even your chaos.
• People love real, relatable stories.
• Platforms like Vocal.Media can genuinely pay—if you show up and write.
• ₹500 earned feels way better than ₹500 gifted.
So What’s Next?
More stories. More experiments. Maybe even ₹1,000 in a day?
I’m still The Unique Pen. Still broke-ish. But now I know—words can pay. And if I can do it, sitting in pajamas, with a creaky laptop and a wild train story, so can you.
