Hobby Collector or Hobby Abandoner? Yes
and Yes

You know that feeling when you just know a new passion has entered your soul?
You’re in bed, peacefully scrolling through Instagram or watching a relaxing DIY video on YouTube and BOOM — you’re convinced you were born to crochet. Or laser wood. Or make handmade candles shaped like forest animals.
That’s me. Every. Three. Months.
I don’t just like hobbies. I collect them like emotionally unstable Pokémon.
The Sacred Ritual of a New Passion
Step 1: Get inspired.
Step 2: Research obsessively at 2 AM.
Step 3: Fill online carts with tools, supplies, books, and possibly a turtleneck because artsy vibes.
Step 4: Convince myself it’s an “investment in my soul.”
Step 5: Receive the packages and pretend I’m not financially spiraling.
Step 6: Do the hobby once.
Step 7: Forget the hobby exists and stuff the tools into the Drawer of Broken Dreams.
My wardrobe now includes:
*4 macramé kits
*7 types of yarn (don’t ask if I know how to finish a scarf)
*A laser-cutting machine
*Beads, paints, a full candle-making set, 3 adult coloring books
*3D printer
*Sewing machine with embroidery

“You Probably Have ADHD” – Every Armchair Psychologist Ever
Now, people love to say things like:
“You know… you might have ADHD”
Or:
“You’re so intense. Like, chaotic sunshine but caffeinated. You should really get tested”
And look — I love a diagnosis as much as the next millennial with a Pinterest board titled "therapy but cute", but also...
Maybe I’m just ENTHUSIASTIC. Maybe my brain is just running its own Formula 1 circuit while I’m trying to crochet a hat that accidentally turns into a weird mushroom blob.

Am I easily distracted?
Sure.
Do I hyperfixate and then vanish into a new interest like a magician in a glitter explosion? Absolutely.
But have you met me?
I’ve always been this way — the hyper child, the classroom talker, the dance-around-the-kitchen, opinion-loaded, multi-tasking menace with jazz hands and a glue gun.
Maybe it’s not a syndrome. Maybe I’m just
on a higher, glitter-covered frequency.
My Hobby Graveyard (So Far)
To be fair, I do get a lot of satisfaction out of each new adventure. I mean, I:
Crocheted few bits for my friends
Made 4 macramé wall hanging before my fingers said “no more”
Burned my eyebrows while trying candle-making
Created a custom wooden keychain that says “Please stop talking” (for myself),
and lots of different wooden gifts
Very often I give my creations to people around me. Nowadays it is easy to buy something ready in a store or order something online with delivery the next day. The joy in the eyes of the person I give a gift to, is the greatest reward for me, because they know that I made something special, one of a kind just for that person. I feel the greatest pride in the fact that I am in the process of making hats for premature babies for the hospital. My goal is 100 pieces, I already have about 30 so I hope that for Christmas I will be able to make a donation.
And you know what?
Each hobby has taught me something valuable: That I’m creative, curious, and extremely good at giving up when slightly inconvenienced.
In Conclusion: I’m Not a Mess, I’m Just a Passion Tornado
Some people like to run marathons. Some people stick to one thing forever. I like to dabble, create, obsess, quit, and repeat. That’s my love language.
I may never crochet a full blanket or sell handmade earrings on Etsy, but I’ll absolutely inspire 4 people to try it themselves while I move on to building a home herb wall or learning to beatbox in Norwegian.
And if that is ADHD? Cool. If it’s just my personality? Even cooler. Either way, I’m fabulous.

I think it's great you have hobbies and get excited by them. I know a lot of adults who don't have hobbies and just spend all their spare time watching TV. Seems like a boring life to me! Also I made crochet beanies for the cancer ward at the hospital once, I didn't get anywhere near 100, or even 30, but I had fun doing it!.
