Writing Your Life

A way to reflect, A way to remember, A way to respond

Time is constantly ticking. We are always moving forward although it can feel like we are on a slippery slide backwards in life. But no matter how difficult things seem time only has a single direction and that is forward.

We are constantly hurdling through time dodging and weaving in an out of everything that is trying to slow us down. We don't always know how to process the things that are happening and find ourselves questioning whether things in life are good or bad. Should we or should we not do certain things? We wonder and we ponder every little detail of our life. We let these ideas spin freely in our mind taking up precious space in our memories.

We need a way to process our thoughts. A way to decompress the things flying around our heads. This is what I love about writing. Whether it be short stories, poetry, or even music. Writing things that are happening in my life helps me be able to process better. Things easily get lost and mixed up in my mind. If i'm not careful it become a quick mess of random thoughts with no meaning.

I find myself writing about the times I've been hurt in songs. I find myself realizing it hurt deeper than I would let on. As I begin to allow my thoughts to flow I see things I hadn't before. Sometimes I even see how when I thought I was the victim it turns out that was only true in my mind. If I looked at the situation from a different perspective it turned out to not be so bad. I can get so caught up in my own thought I forget the world does not revolve around me. Writing helps me break free of that and see life for how it really is.

Writing to me is a way to organize the chaos in my mind and find clarity in myself. Without the gift of words for writing and music I would be lost. I wouldn't know where I am or what I'm suppose to be doing. I find myslef using my notes app as a brain dump a lot. If I don't write it down there is a good chance I will quickly forget.

I love creating check lists to help remember my tasks. There is something satisfying about writing down and seeing your thoughts on a page. Then as you go through your day and watch each item get a check mark beside it I can feel the dopamine flowing through my veins.

Sometimes when someone hurts me it's hard to process my thoughts. I need to take the time to write down how I am feeling so I can get all my thoughts together before talking to the person who may have hurt me. This prevents me from blowing up on people in heated emotion. I've also found that when I write down my emotional thoughts I can see I am the one being stupid and petty and it saves me for the embarrassment of responding stupidly to someone and hurting them.

Oveall words are a powerful thing. Some people are brilliant speakers and can win a crowd with the way they talk. Other people, like me, need time to process and see their thoughts on a page before they allow the world to come in and see and share in their thoughts. No matter which person you are know you were made perfectly and you should embrass yourself for who you are and not wish to be like someone else.
