WORK WITH SINCERITY: FOLLOWING HEAVENLY TRADITION OR FULFILLING WORLDLY NEEDS
Doing something sincerely is good and commendable. Sincerity is also an act that can lead us to heaven. But to reach the afterlife, don't we have to live a good life in the world? In my opinion, as long as what is done does not harm us too much, then do it sincerely. And if what is done is actually very detrimental to us and even contrary to our will. Then think rationally and act realistically.

Since childhood, we have been taught to be good human beings to others. To help others, respect the elderly, obey the rules and norms that apply in society, fulfill existing obligations, and do all of these things sincerely. This is because it has been a doctrine from people who have long existed in this world toward new humans so that they appear good and are known as good. Then, what is gained? Is it something real that can be felt or just future promises? In social norms, good people or at least people who appear good when doing a kindness are believed to receive back that kindness according to its portion, and even get more than what was done. Wow, interesting isn't it. Is sincerity something inherent in humans? Or is it just a word used as a shield for those who indeed cannot give. Sincerity is defined as a state where we genuinely without expecting rewards, praise, or appreciation.
But by applying the principle of 'sincerity', can we live life well?
I always wonder, is there any guarantee that we will get back the kindness we have done. If indeed that kindness will come back and even in a larger portion, why do many people who do something ask for rewards? Certainly, this can happen because humans need something tangible. We cannot buy clothes just with sincerity, we cannot buy our daily necessities just with sincerity. Can we? Since ancient times, we know that if we want to get goods, we must exchange goods we have for those goods. The exchanged goods must have the same value, or more or less. According to the agreement applied. Over time, the exchange of goods or what is often known as barter has been replaced by the existence of currency values. Which applies as a legitimate means of buying and selling. It's starting to become clear where this is heading, right? Continue. Humans have desires, desires give birth to wants and needs. To achieve that desire, of course, we need money to buy it. Then new questions arise, "how do we get money?", "is money important?". In today's modern era, there is nothing that is not related to money. When humans are first born into the world, they need money for all matters in the process of giving birth to the baby. To help the baby to ensure its life also requires money, then during the growth process of that human also requires money so that its life is well guaranteed. At least until that person can find or generate their own money. And after that is the real life test.
Working hard with sincerity, is it enough?
We are all required to work in order to meet our various daily needs. In the work world, many are fortunate because they can get high positions or ranks such as chairman, secretary, boss, or leader of an organization. But many more are also less fortunate and can even be said to be 'unlucky'. The group of lucky people can feel the pleasure with a workload that is not too heavy, but get a large wage salary. While the group of less fortunate people gets a very heavy workload, but with little wage salary. There are even many who are paid with words or expressions that they 'work sincerely and more diligently so that they can be considered to be appointed as employees/staff who deserve to get a wage salary'. The fact is indeed like that, there are people who work from 9 am to 5 pm, without adequate rest, very heavy workload, far work location, but get a wage salary that is even only enough to meet their needs in the next 3 days. It's not that they don't want to work sincerely, but don't we need enough money to facilitate us going to the office.
