Watch out! Not all Filipinas are the pretty and sweet flower you’ve always imagined them to be.

It’s the same logic about how not all women are (insert horrible personality here). Every woman has her own personality, her own goals and her own quirks. Some are just nicer than others.

For Filipino women, especially Cebuanas, the same logic applies. While there are key differences because of culture and such, there are some factors that you will find familiar.

Like how some will ask you to buy her love.

We know this type more commonly as the gold digger. You see them in sitcoms and movies more often than considered comfortable. Sometimes, to someone who is looking for love overseas, this is a slightly sore subject. We all know the stereotypes. We all know what people are saying about dating younger foreign women.

To someone who is just looking for love but now has to be cautious about where he looks for it and who he meets, it’s difficult.

Unfortunately, there is some merit in this stereotype, mainly because the Philippines is still a developing country. There is no denying that some Filipino women will marry foreigners for financial gain. They also believe that this is the quickest means of escaping poverty. Filipinos are generally loyal to their families, and the majority of them will go to any length to improve the situations of their parents and siblings, including marrying for money.

You can understand and empathize with their situations. But ultimately, it’s your decision and responsibility if you want to take that burden. If you’re okay marrying a Filipina who has an agenda as such, then go ahead and marry her.

But if you would rather marry for love-- real, genuine love, then there are many other Filipinas who fit the bill.

Then there’s that woman who has her head far up in the clouds.

These are the types of women that have expectations no normal man could meet. Because they expect a man who’s not real. A fictional man who is not only attractive in every sense of the word, but also has the personality of a prince.

We get it. Standards are high in the dating scene, especially nowadays with dating apps making it harder for the average Joe’s online. Women expect a prince charming to sweep them off their feet. And they have to be handsome, rich and extremely generous to be considered a prince charming.

Humans weren’t created to be so perfect. Unfortunately, some of these women just can’t seem to get their heads out of those clouds. What they want, they will get. And if they can’t get it, they will either ditch you or they will demand it out of you.

They’re not just delusional, they are also high-maintenance. They might look pretty, but try to stay away from these kinds of women or else you’ll get locked in a toxic relationship of you just giving and not receiving.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to go out and have fun. Filipinas, after all, are known to be fun-loving women who bring the party with them wherever they go.

But come on, let’s be real. People that are party animals often come and go like the wind. They’re still at that stage where they want to enjoy life and meet new people. Commitment doesn’t exactly fit anywhere in there.

If you pursue a woman that happens to love partying and going out at night, do so with the acceptance that she will continue to do so in the future. Best case scenario, she drags you to these parties and you two enjoy them together. Worst case scenario, she finds someone else because she’s too drunk and too friendly while her friends encourage her.

Filipinas may have a lot of stereotypical qualities, such as those stated above, but they are also unique in their own way. Many who travel to the Philippines often have their sights set on the province of Cebu. And they aren’t just there for the stunning tourist areas either.

Cebuanas are only slightly different from every other Filipino. But if you want to get specific on what types of people these women are and if you can date them, here are the ones you ought to meet.

The City Girl

The name is self-explanatory. These Cebuanas have access to anything you'll need to make yourself at home in Cebu. They know their way around streets, malls, hotels and food parks.

They appreciate city life and the amenities that come with it, which is why you'll often see them dressed to the nines and strutting around the streets.

Another characteristic of these ladies is that they enjoy celebrating special occasions, whether it's a birthday, fiesta, or a casual get-together. There's never a dull moment with them since they're always up to something.

You will find them, of course, in the city. They’re mostly in malls and you can easily approach them to initiate a conversation. Unless they’re with a partner or with family members, they’re usually very friendly with strangers.

The Dalagang Bukid

These are the young maidens that spend most of their lives in Cebu's mountainous regions.

To get an idea how they're supposed to look, they are frequently represented in Filipino soap operas wearing a flowy dress with flowers in their hair and the wind blowing behind. Obviously, these are all exaggerations, since a Dalagang Bukid is more than how television depicts her.

It is not easy to live in the mountains, and they must keep up with the demands in order to survive. These ladies become fiercely independent as a result of their hard work and tenacity.

Once they reach adulthood, a lot of them will move into the city to find work. You will find them in malls too but it might be a little harder to approach one since they are naturally shy and maybe cautious to strangers, least of all foreigners.

The Beach Babe

You’ll be able to recognize these women by their tan skin, fit and petite body as well as their balayage hair.

You may have seen a few of these women on travel blogs and tourism ads, which is unsurprising given Cebu's reputation for beaches.
