Technology itself has transpired as a covenant between imagination and reality. From the internet to social media, technology has become an integral part of our lives. However, like everything else in life, technology also has its pros and cons. In this blog post, we will take a look at the Technology: Boon or Bane in terms of the internet and various other forms of technology.

Technology is the application of scientific knowledge into practical life. It is the use of tools and machines to make our work easier. It can be said that technology has made our lives more convenient and comfortable.

PROS: Improved Connectivity through Internet and Social Media:

The internet has connected the world like never before. With just a click of a button, we can communicate with anyone in any part of the world. We can also use various online platforms to learn new things or gain knowledge about different topics. Thus, education has become easy and affordable. Now internet connectivity has become a fundamental necessity of everyone, from a student to an educator, from a corporate employee to a farmer, from a small businessman to a scientist, everyone needs the information.

PROS of Social Media

Social media has become one of the most important aspects of our lives. It allows us to stay connected with our friends and family, share important news and experiences, and even meet new people. It's a great way to stay in touch with the world and learn about new things. We always stay updated about the events around us. Sometimes it becomes very easy for the parents to track the activities of their children the updates they post on social media. Social media is now a perfect platform for showcasing innovation and creativity. People are learning and performing and the chain reaction follows millions. Thus social media is presenting a platform to earn and live to many. Eventually, social media has emerged as a tool of marketing. Thus, entrepreneurs, small traders get the opportunity to sell their skills or products in front of many. This opportunity is not only limited to the local area, the social media has globalised this scope. This virtual life has become very fast and accurate. Sometimes we get the weather forecast, accident news, information about roadblocks or any type of chaos from the updates from our friends or relatives. Therefore, the information helps us to plan accordingly.

CONS of Social Media

However, social media can also have some negative effects. For example, it can be addictive and lead to less face-to-face interaction. It can also be a platform for cyberbullying and other forms of harassment. Additionally, some people use social media to share fake news or spread misinformation. Social media has become a platform to spread disinformation in order to spread some political or religious propaganda. Sometimes terrorists use social media to inflict terror among the masses. Overall, it's important to use social media responsibly and be aware of the potential risks involved. The cheap and affordable data has allured the young generation to dive into the virtual life of dynamic social media. As a consequence, we are spending more time in front of screens. This can lead to various health problems such as neck pain, eye strain, and so on. Also, we are interacting less with people around us and this can impact our social skills. Hence it can be said that technology has driven us into social media but also made us less social.

Increased Dependence on Technology

One of the major drawbacks of technology is that it has made us dependent on it. We are now so used to the convenience that technology provides that we cannot imagine our lives without it. For instance, if there is a power outage, we are at a loss as to what to do. Moreover, we have become so reliant on gadgets like laptops and smartphones that we cannot even think of spending a day without them. This dependence can be detrimental as it can make us lazy and hamper our cognitive abilities.

Conclusion

Technology has definitely changed the way we live and communicate. We should be self-critical to use technology in our lives in a responsible and balanced way.
