All you need is Love, and Love is all you need.
The Hills of Galloway
If you sail west across the Irish Sea to the hills of Galloway, you will see me standing there, gazing off into the distant, blurry horizon. I stand still, like a mossy statue in an old graveyard. The cold wind blows on my neck, and I must push up my collar to protect my fragile skin from the bitterness in the air. It is cold and damp. The frost blankets the ground. This is sacred ground.

Love Rises Like a Phoenix
In the late afternoon each day, Tess walked the cliffs of Cornwall, looking out upon the vast ocean as she awaited the return of her beloved sea captain. The Trevose Head Lighthouse stood at the ready, able to provide guidance to any incoming ship out on the seas. It had been over a year since she’d seen The Saphho draw near, but she held steadfast to hope as she waited, walking amidst the flower encrusted cliffs high above the lapping ocean’s waves.

Sailing on the Moon
She didn’t wait long. The sky played with the colors of pink and blue and purple, the soft edges of the clouds dipped gently in gold. Sunset’s magnificent painting, washing away the day. She knew that “tomorrow is never promised” as they say, so she took a deep breath and let go of what seemed like bundles of failure. She let the fear drown in the disappearing shadows and watched the spectacle of light dance on the water and forgive the disappointments.

I fell in love
APRIL Today, when I looked into your eyes, I knew I had fallen in love. I knew that I loved you and that I wanted to be with you. I knew that as soon as I left your side, I’d be missing you, your fragrance, your smile, your questions… Don’t ask me how, nor when, nor why, because I’m at a loss as to why my heart chose you. Perhaps it was your gaze that had a way of penetrating my soul while we made love, perhaps your actions that set off a multitude of feelings within me that I didn’t realize I was able to possess.

Why Love Is The Greatest Pain
I want to start with a quote that I love a lot and it’s from Roland Barthes: “Love, At First Sight, Is Always Spoken In The Past Tense. The Scene Is Perfectly Adapted To This Temporal Phenomenon: Distinct, Abrupt, Framed, It Is a Memory”…

Bowing Out. Top Story - April 2021.
He was coming home. She could sense his ship on the horizon before it appeared. The white, billowing sails. The way the sunshine bounced off the bow and back into the sky. The subtle groaning of the ropes as they strained against their ties. Every detail was etched into her memory like carvings on an oak tree.

Ships at a Distance
How do you write a love story when you’re sitting on the couch at your parent’s house watching a Pixar film at 10:23 p.m. on a Saturday that happens to be the birthday of the last guy you really cared about? And really wishing he knew you’d remembered.
