Whether written centuries ago or just last year, literary couples show that love is timeless.
Triumph of Evil
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” - Edmund Burke. That is what my father wrote in black sharpie on the inside cover of The Lord of the Rings. It was all three books in one massive, hardcover tome. I don’t remember how old I was, but I know it was between the Two Towers coming out on VHS (gee, am I old?) and the theatrical release of Return of the King. I read that tome cover to cover…and I do mean that. I even read the appendices. It led me to reading The Hobbit and taking a crack at The Silmarillion. That one was over my head; I came back and finished it a few years later.

Another day in Paradise
Today has been such a boring day tbh (to be honest). Haven't really done to much really. I was thinking of going rollerskating today because I absolutely love to roller skate, but then I got to thinking that today isn't really the best day to go.

The Book that Made Me
On the morning of my high school graduation, I knew that I would not cry. Those four years of my life remain a time that I cannot entirely forgive or forget, no matter how distant I am from them. And I knew on the day where it became official that all I was going to feel that day was relief as I sat in that arena, waiting to throw my hat and go home.

These, My Favorite Things.
Once upon a time, in the land of Snow and Mountain, a baby boy was born sunny side up to a family of heartache and challenge. His Grandfather, a wise old painter, who worked in the magic land of Hollywood, nourished the young boys enthusiasm for the art of storytelling. His mother taught him how to use song and dance to lift his spirits and his father encouraged his curious soul. The boy learned early on, that laughter is good medicine, cooperation could make dreams come true and believing in yourself is the magic key to reassembling a broken heart.

The Truest Peace of Fear
Can you imagine driving on a dark country road, swerving, and having to spend the exceedingly long seconds where you’re skidding around at 80 miles per hour contemplating death for the first time? It’s not great. It is, as you can imagine, very scary.

The Fall of Katie
DYSTOPIAN: DENOTING AN IMAGINED STATE OR SOCIETY WHERE A GREAT SUFFERING OR INJUSTICE TAKES PLACE. Things were almost normal from the outside but Katie would say dystopian. Katie was born into the wrong family. She was too bright and bold for the beige walls and crystal vases. The rules were the worst.

Dinner with Gertrude
There were not many people left in Johnstown after the asteroid hit in Montana, killing more than two thirds of the people almost immediately upon impact. The same was true in the rest of the state, along with America as a whole. We had been warned to some degree, but the warnings were sparse, and at times subliminal.

The Stories That Shape Us
In a perfect world… I write stories based in worlds that spring forth from the depths of my imagination, fraught with high-stakes (often life-threatening) adventures, and embedded with characters that inspire, enliven, and infuriate me all at once.

Pathways to Freedom
Carley, my name, means Free Woman, which is fitting because my goal in this lifetime is to liberate myself and be completely free. However, I do not want to do this alone. My work involves helping others liberate themselves through sharing my own experiences. I am very passionate about creating spaces and communities where people can come together and heal through connection, storytelling, and mutual support. I currently do this through Instagram, but I would love to have a larger community and a wider audience. My goal is to write books, have a podcast, publish a newsletter, and create a forum where people can connect consciously.
