How to Play Dominoes with West Indians
Summer is coming to an interesting conclusion. We have faced Covid-19, monkeypox, inflation, criminal actions of elected officials and weird weather patterns. People have needed an escape from the insanity of day-to-day life, and have found it in many different ways. Some of us have returned to the gym; some have become even more deeply invested in their computers (laptops, desktops, cellphones, etc.) Some people have quit jobs; others refuse to return to the office to do things that they have proven could be done at home. And there are others who just want to make a connection with people again…or at all.

Lust Actually:
In the movie Love Actually (2003), Hugh Grant opens the film with the famous line, “If you look carefully, you’ll notice love actually is all around.” Sweet right? As a hopeless romantic from day one, this is one of my favorite movies. However, the more I look around, the more I fail to see love. I don’t mean any kind of love, I mean the big L-O-V-E. Romantic love.

Wait...What?
Before my children were very old, I worked in retail in order to obtain Christmas cash. Aside from occasionally telling a customer that their glasses were on their head, or that the purse they were looking for was on their elbow under the package they were holding, nothing out of the ordinary happened.

The Weevil People
Growing up poor gave me a unique perspective on entertainment. One summer, the radio station hosted Tuesday night $1.50 carloads at the drive-in for anyone using their bumper sticker. So, mom, (queen of pranks and scare tactics), loaded the station wagon with bags of popcorn and coolers of tea, together with plastic tumblers from home.

Moving is NOT for OLD People - 5 Tips to Keep You Sane if You Must Move After the Age of 65
My next move is to the cemetery. I swear to God, I will never do this again. Aside from the death of a loved one, I cannot imagine anything more stressful than moving at the age of 73, with only friends to help who are in the same deteriorating physical condition as me.

Short stories.
Military service: Quite often you can hear, for example, interesting stories from people's lives - funny, short - about the army. For example, this thing. The man talks about his time in the army. During his watch at the checkpoint, an elderly couple approached him. The woman began to wonder where the tank unit was. The son would have served there, she said. The guard on duty tried to explain to the young man that there was no tank unit around. In response, the couple desperately tried to prove that their son would not cheat on them. The woman's last argument was the photo given to the person in debt. On it was a young "tankman" with a proud posture, bent sewer hatch at the waist, with a lid in his hands in front of him. You can imagine how the soldier on duty laughed. Such interesting stories from people's lives (funny, short), among the military sound very often.

On Dogs
I hate dogs. The big, hair shedding, slobbering, crotch nosing variety to the tiny yapping toys with sharp teeth, I hate them all. They sleep and defecate everywhere and when they are not doing that they are eating voraciously followed by throwing up on whatever expensive carpet or favorite item of clothing is nearest.
