For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.

My Golden Age
My mother told me that she loved her 50s. I think the neck surgery has tempered my opinion. But this year, I'm 52. I'm officially menopausal. I've reached the end of the torturous road that was my period. It's nice. Now I just have to be careful when I sneeze too hard.

The Last Dream of the Meadow
The sun shone through the trees, as if it was the last time that the dear star would ever give us light. I never thought I would see this meadow in its beauty again. My darling friend Caroline and I kept our silence as we left our families off at their picnic. All they see are children in their pink and blue dresses, not knowing anything about the world and all its splendor and also all of its horrors. The buds and the tulips were barely starting to bloom, and the trees were putting their fresh coat of green leaves on their branches, welcoming mid-spring and getting ready for the heat of summer. Still blowing around us was the gentle wind. This is what childhood was to us, nothing that could touch us except for our Mother Nature. All was gentle and peaceful.

Things I know to be true 2: Karma
We hear all sorts of things about this topic, “Karma’s a bitch”, this and that, however vast majority of society do not understand this concept well, we just passing on washed out overused statements. It is vital we understand this for our very own life, health and wellbeing. Every intentional action or thought we create, generates energy; we call this energy Karma. It is the dynamic energy system that responds to our very own thoughts, feelings and actions. We are the creators of our own life, each individual in this world creates their own life through thoughts, action and intentions. Everything we see in this world was created with a thought, we are powerful energetic beings, more poweful than we know.

Resilient Creature
Mid-August, but Edinburgh is cold tonight. If I had half a wit, I would cling to my layers, seek the warmth of a wee bar, the cosy hum of revellers. If I’d an ounce of the common, I would merge into the midst of the well-pashed and pissheads, soak up their energy, blend in, merge, disappear. Instead, I stand in the street beyond the elliptical glow of a streetlamp, the chill stone pavement sucking heat from my bare feet.

BELSARA and LEONIDAS Narrative poetry By Leo Auciello
BELSARA and LEONIDAS Narrative poetry By Leo Auciello Page1 'BEGIN' Slowly, yes slowly do not make haste for the fancies of the heart must aspire freely and not at the will of the suitor Patience, yes patience the machinations are known to no-one, with patience the fall from heaven is not so wounding Love, what of love ? comes and goes of its own choosing, merit that some are more prone to its seduction and fall deeper into the abyss Heart, yes beating heart erupt from my chest in anxiousness, leave me, be gone! Be strong, my mind must will it! I, what of you? Know this truth and walk steadily to the well from which you wish to drink, for many in their haste have drowned.

The Covering
As I peered out the car window, I held my stomach slightly as my father navigated through the snaky windings of the Ozark Mountains. The hovering trees reminded me of our home near the lake when I would stop to rest after a long morning swim. The timbers would dance in the reflection and sooth my soul.
