humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.

Life isn't quite like the movies, but don't we try to make it so? Even through the perpetual anticlimax that is our lives we try to attach the meaning that the visionaries intend and the critics miss. Everything is a symbol, we have free dictation of our own will, and things will work out, they always have, right?

for me, it all really started in kindergarten. it was the the first week at 53rd st. elementary school, and for some reason, the school nurse wanted to give us all physicals. i was only 5 or 6, but i knew this was going to be problem. i was already being teased for wearing long sleeves shirts and pants in the summer because i had bruises all over my body from a beating my father had given me with a belt. when i heard the official announcement, my body went cold. what should i do? she was conducting the physicals all week, and i wasn’t smart enough to figure a way out of mine. she was going in alphabetical order, my last name was moore, so i had time to think about what lie i could tell.

Strawberry Heart
When I slept with a nightlight and a stuffed animal named Mow, I wanted to be a strawberry. This is Real, not True. Maybe it was because sometimes you come across a strawberry that looks like the hearts you find on cards, or the shape of boxes filled with chocolates my mom buys for me every Valentine’s Day and they all fill my heart so much, I have to look away as I eat all the chocolates, except for the cherry jubilee one.

She Will Find Out Later.
Working out is exhausting in general. You have to get up, get out, and keep moving until your workout is over. Especially in the winter, it’s super hard to get up at 3:35 AM to do it. It’s so dang easy to hit the snooze button, to roll over in bed, and to make more excuses. It’s easier to say “I’ll just do it tonight” than it is to actually do it tonight. My brain says, “take another rest day.” The lazy cycle repeats until it becomes a habit, then a routine. I want to work out, but I feel like giving up. I am in an endless rut–

Perched On A Windowsill
“I am going to be candid with you Theo, it isn’t good,” the doctor said, bracing himself for the news he was about to deliver. “The results here indicate advanced cancer in your colon, and it appears to have spread rapidly throughout your body. I am very sorry.” Woefully shocked, Theo stuttered back, “Wh— what exactly are you saying to me doc? I don’t understand.” Leaning in closer, grabbing Theo gently by the shoulder, he replied, “You’re dying Theo. And looking at these levels, I’d say you only have about five weeks.” In quiet desperation, Theo sank deeply into his chair. And while the doctor carried on about potential remedies and options, Theo nodded along slowly, pretending to listen. But his attention had surely been stolen by the looming thought, “Five weeks… Five weeks… Five weeks…” He couldn’t shake it. When the appointment ended, and all of the forgotten words had been said, Theo shook his doctor’s hand and left the office, trudging right past reception. He couldn’t see the point in scheduling a follow-up. He was a dead man.

the life
We live so many lives in a life and we die a lot before death, that's life. Humans have a lot of faces with a lot of intensity to feel emotions, love, hate, jealousy, energy, and power. When someone talks about life, my interest in understanding life starts to emerge. I always wanted to know what our life is and what its motive is. We are born into a world where living is simple and tough at the same time. Every child has the desire to grow up, but when he does, he understands the real aspects of life. As children we find life a field of blossoming flowers where we wander and feel every touch very calmly. We never know what will happen or what should happen next; instead, we get lost in the fragrance of deep sensible flowers and feel it as our only world. Life is simple when we have only fights about having a wooden pencil and anything can be erased in a matter of seconds. Fighting with friends is no longer a good option and we forget everything as our hearts were clean and clothes were dirty with mud. When a child is born, he is born with nothing except a smile without teeth. He laughs in the shelter of his family. With no expectations, life was smooth as silk and nothing was worrying us. With passing time, I understood one thing, humans teach humans, and whoever we meet with time, will teach us a lesson we should remember to continue our lives. Our childhood taught us to expect happiness and love from everyone, but when everyone understands the same truth, no one comes forward to love each other. Our world is getting cruel because no one wants to move forward and love deeply.

A Narration
The radiant beams of the sun were throttled by a horde of tenebrous clouds as Andy peered out of his window, his mind pleading for the sweet euphoric opportunity to see something, anything, remotely interesting. “Nothing,” Andy thought to himself. Thinking to himself was among the few things that Andy did that could be considered a talent, the thoughts that he fostered were often inconsequential, plebeian at best, and it was for this reason that he did not dare to voice them out loud. Who would care to hear the opinion of somebody like him? A sigh was the only thing to claw its way out of the Alcatraz that was his mouth as his brain whimpered in disappointment at the lost opportunity to release dopamine from its prison. Andy returned his attention to the screen of his computer, a clinical white glow stretching across his face as his hands hovered over the keyboard, his fingertips bellowing empty threats at the letter-keys. Andy continued to think to himself, “Come on! You need to start the essay, just write something.” He wracked his brain “How has an experience in your life changed your way of thinking?” Andy brandished a shovel to his long-term memory and proceeded to gouge it for any significant occurrences that have had any impact on shaping him to become the miserable individual he is today, as beads of rain began to squeeze from the murky clouds that hovered ominously above his street.
