That's An Imposter!!!!!
People did, back in the day, live simpler and better lives. I’m sitting here watching a E60 documentary on Barry Bremen, the great impostor. It showed the man dressing up in Kansas City Kings warmup and he went out there to shoot around with real NBA players like Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Marques Johnson.

In argument for Religion
Let me begin by saying, I am not religious. I do not ascribe to any organised religion. I grew up in a heavily Christian school and went home to a non-Christian, non-religious family and celebrated a mix of Christian holidays and traditional holidays. And yet, I find there something so very, well, religious about religion. On my worst days, I seek not the comfort of religion but the community it might bring me.

"At Least You're.." and Other Tired Comfort Statements
"Well, at least you still have your other children!" We have all been witness to--and probably guilty of using--a phrase like this when comforting someone who has suffered in some way. If there is some population which has had the most grief when it comes to being comforted, it is, in my opinion, those who have lost a loved one, in any capacity and are simply asking for some amount of validation that their feelings make sense. Although, I will say, my time as a therapist has taught me that this happens to anyone reaching out for help with their suffering, which speaks to a problem we should probably be working to fix as a society.

Echoes of the Heart
In a world where emotions were heavily suppressed, Lila lived a life of monotony. She went to work, came home, and went to sleep, repeating the same routine day after day. Her society valued rationality and control above all else, and any display of emotion was met with disdain. Lila had always been good at keeping her emotions in check. She had learned from a young age to suppress them, to push them down and lock them away. She had learned to avoid situations that might trigger them, and to put on a blank, neutral face when she couldn't. But as she grew older, she started to realize that this way of life was taking a toll on her.
