Never a Dull Moment
Roofing is simple to learn, but it’s no easy feat. Especially if heights terrify you. That was my issue, but heights did not just terrify me, it petrified me. Now here I am 3 years later and still terrified of heights, however, it pays the bills. I have climbed 2 and even 3 story buildings to make one repair.

The Secrets We Bury
Tuesdays are for memory hunting. It’s the only day of the week Gino can spare me at the restaurant. If he could get away with working me 365 days a year, I know he would. Gino doesn’t believe in holidays, or so he says. Personally, I think he can’t stand to lock people out on Thanksgiving, but maybe I’m giving him too much credit. Jeannie says I always look for the best in people.

Preamble
A man started to wander his neighborhood at dusk. It was a dusk that stops people out running errands, leaving work, living otherwise unremarkably, just for a second with its comfortable temperatures and striking but unpretentious colors. It was the kind of dusk that momentarily evokes intrinsic memories of contentedness. The man breathed in the scents suspended in the humidity as he walked frantically but without purpose. He strayed from his neighborhood. His mind raced, but he thought of very little. He enjoyed no moment of pause or peace in the gift of a lovely evening.

Ophiuchus
Most of my life I considered myself a Sagittarius. Born on December 10th, I love an adventure, a well-placed joke, and deep discussions just as one could expect from the sign. However, there were some characteristics that didn’t really match how I am. Sagittarius tends to be lackadaisical, bored with details and serious matters. They also don’t like clingy people and are difficult to pin down into a committed relationship. These traits have never matched me. I found myself in a predicament were I liked the idea of astrology, but I couldn’t fully support who they said I should be.

The Morten Heir
The Mortem Heir The sky was crimson as the last ray of the sun folded under the horizon. The wind gently blowing my long hair back as the entire sky darkened before me on the roof of the hotel. I tore my eyes away, spots blinding my watery vision.

The Bigger Picture
Emma marvelled at the knife’s blade as it sliced through the lime with ease. She wondered why she didn’t give it to the kitchen to sharpen earlier. She would have finished prepping this bucket of limes half an hour ago. She glanced at her watch. Only 11:30. How could she have only been here an hour? It felt like twelve.
