Keep Your Pants On
One privilege of rank is getting to keep your pants on. American Major General Mark Clark was on a top-secret mission in North Africa in 1942. A British submarine had brought him and several other Allied officers to meet with the commander of the French army in Algiers. Clark was there to persuade General Charles Mast, the French commander, not to resist the planned American invasion of North Africa, codenamed Operation Torch. French forces had been under German authority since the Nazis had invaded France two years earlier, so it wasn’t clear whose side they would be on. The officers met in an isolated villa on the coast, and General Mast agreed to Clark’s plan. If Mast’s cooperation was found out by the Germans, he would have been executed for treason.

The Boy in the Ward
It’s the thick steel needle the boy finds most amazing about the whole thing. It runs right through his leg, holding it immobilized while the bone mends itself. His fingers continually find the needle and probe it gently despite several nurses telling him he shouldn’t.

After the Rain
"Lying in the dark, it's understood We are both lost And we won't be found." The Last Unicorn - Passenger When it was done, after he had gone through the normal stages of adapting to the new norm (single again), he felt surprised to learn that what he missed most wasn't the grand declarations of love or the sex. What he remembered most fondly was the companionship, laughter, odd little tender moments, the quiet times spent interlaced in each other's arms, which even as they happened, he knew were, at some level, important.

Raven
I felt so exhausted, after a long battle. I had never been so scared in a battle in my life. And I wasn’t scared for my life. I couldn’t care about my life, when the girl I loved with everything I had, life was in danger. I was so scared. Because I had been with her at the beginning of the battle, because we had been training when it all started.

The REAL World News
Try and think back to the last time you sat down to watch the news. It’s safe to assume you turned on CNN, WNDU, Fox or MSNBC. It is also pretty safe to assume that the news channel you turned on is aligned with your views in life whether it be political or otherwise. Many people do this without thinking about it. I remember asking my mom why she switched from watching WNDU to Fox news when I was younger and the answer I got was always somewhere along the lines of “WNDU doesn’t know what they are talking about and Fox does”.
