breakups
When it comes to breakups, pain is inevitable, but Humans thinks that suffering is optional.
The Date That Ended It All
I wish this was a funny story. I wish it was about the time I went on a date with a boy who offered to take me to Chipotle but threw a hissy fit when I didn't offer to pay. Even though he had paid for our last three dates. Not bad, but kind of funny. I wish I could write about the time I got my first migraine on a dinner date and my eyes wouldn't stop watering up. Like for hours, they were just running and I had a huge migraine. It was awful, but quite hilarious. My worst date story takes the cake over these chumps.

Why Does It Feel Like Winter?
You know how it feels on those harsh days during the peak of the winter season? The very instant you step outside all the warmth seems to slowly drain from your body. Every step you take it feels like something might break, but if you stop your body will become frozen in that moment forever. Tears caused by the cold sting your eyes, and some say it’s the work of a mischievous Jack Frost who’s “nipping at your nose.”

Just One More Night
It's Tuesday night and I'm sitting on my couch, home alone, watching a rerun of my favorite TV show. There's coffee on my side table and cookies & cream ice cream in my lap. My legs are curbed to the side with a blanket tucked around them, my phone facedown on top. I feel the vibration almost instantly and reach down to see what's caused it. It's a text from him. He who I haven't spoken to in at least a year, if not more. He who broke my heart and moved in with his pretty new girlfriend. He who broke through all my walls, just to be the reason I built them back up, stronger. I decide to ignore it. I'm not going to let whatever is in that message ruin my perfectly good evening alone. A minute later, I feel the vibration again, and yet again, I ignore it. This final time, the buzzing does not stop, and I realize he's calling me. I decide to answer the phone. I take a deep breath and swipe the bar across the screen to answer the call.

The Goodbye Letter
I am one of those people. It's not a bad thing to be one of them but it comes with its hardships. We love with all our heart until there is nothing left to give. We expect nothing in return. We are stepped on, forgotten, and replaced and yet we do not change. It is rooted deep within us to be this way.

When an Ex Should Stay an Ex
Two years ago, you had a relationship and it was perfect. He was your best friend, your rock, your Netflix and sex buddy, but most importantly... The love of your life. He showed you strength, individuality, and held your hand while you are on the way to bettering yourself. He helped you grow, blossom, and taught you that not every guy you met will hurt you, physically or emotionally. You made memories that will forever float like pretty melodies in your mind... first kiss... first time you said I love you... first time you heard him play your guitar... getting tattoos and piercings... teenage memories. It was a fun filled few months of dizzy dates, getting serious, being drunk, doing things you should not. All up to that one summer.

My High School Sweetheart
The only reason I knew about him was through my friend, who was crushing hard on him. She had it really bad for some reason, but I didn't really pay much attention, since that was typical for her. It followed through high school, when the two were on and off again. She talked about him, complaining to me when I when to visit, and I ended ripping his baby picture! That was a little insane, but I thought he was probably a jerk, since I only cared about hearing her side of the story.

An End to Two Years
Let me take you back to January 10, 2016: A day that changed my life forever in the best way possible, I would definitely say. I was at work on my lunch break when in comes a text from my then-boyfriend whom I had not really heard much from for the past couple weeks. Things were definitely rocky between the two of us.
