History of Noorjahan

Noorjahan was an influential figure in the Mughal Empire of India during the 17th century. She was born in 1577 in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and was named Mehr-un-Nisa. Her father, a Persian nobleman, served in the court of Emperor Akbar and later became the governor of Bengal.

Mehr-un-Nisa was married at the age of 17 to a Mughal prince, Salim, who later became Emperor Jahangir. She became his favorite wife and was given the title of Nur Jahan, meaning "light of the world." She was known for her intelligence, beauty, and political acumen.

During Jahangir's reign, Nur Jahan became an important political figure and was involved in the administration of the empire.
