The Past Forms You
I have gotten far in my short 25 years of life. I have gone through so many changes that I never thought I would experience. Growing up, I had the "white picket fence." I got everything I have ever needed or wanted. I was the only child in my family, so I guess you could say I was spoiled. I am thankful for everything I have been faced with. Some people deserve a shout out because they helped form me into the person I am today.

Life After Love: Part 1
SERENA Stumbling straight into the third trimester of this pregnancy, I felt myself in a much brighter mood. My skin was glowing, my sleeping patterns weren't as messed up. The only thing I wasn't handling well was the heartburn. This baby did not like me eating fried foods, which sucked because that's all I've been craving lately. That and boxes full of chocolate bars. I carried one in my hand, taking a bite out of it as I pulled up to Pasadena City Jail, parking on the curb as I waited.

Boy Friends Are Not Boyfriends
Most people misunderstand the friendship between girls and boys. When they see girls having a close Friendships with boys, they judge and call the girl names like slut or bitch without knowing the stories of the friendships that the girls have and without understanding the benefits of boy-girl friendships. I am a girl and most of my friends are boys. They are all different, whether married, single, straight or gay. When we hang out together we shop, sing karaoke, watch movie marathons, drink liquor and swim. I have no romantic interest in them and they have communicated no romantic interest in me.

Six Signs of a Controlling Partner
Dating someone who's controlling isn't cute or fun. It's often annoying, frustrating, can lead to fights and a lot of tension, and sometimes even put your life in danger. Millennial and Proud
Something most people outside of the millennial generation don’t realize is that we are the way we are because of everyone before us. Why is it Gen X doesn’t seem to realize that THEY are the ones who gave us the participation ribbons and trophies that we all “need”? Why do they not think that we all randomly woke up one day and thought “Man, I’m not going to be motivated at all until someone gives me something for it”?

How To Make Friends In Your 20s
It’s okay to admit it. You want to build new friendships but are unsure of how. Find solace in knowing you are not alone. There are millions of others like you who find themselves feeling the same way but are embarrassed to share it. There is a societal expectation that by the time we reach our twenties we have already established our lifelong friendships. That is the case for some but certainly not all. Relationships evolve, some fade, and others never have a chance at developing. We all have our unique means of connecting to others and they require some of us more time to craft healthy, fulfilling friendships.

Finding Love
This is a little sneak peek at my new book. I hope you enjoy it. Finding Love Coen’s P.O.V. I watched her work quietly. She slowly swayed to the soft melodies in the background while putting all her focus in her work. She was beautiful I thought. She had he hair pulled back into a ponytail, her hands working away as she made the pie crust. She kneaded the dough perfectly with her hands. She continued to sway and then lifted her head to find me staring.

How to Approach Black Women
In my experience as a Black woman, one of the most interesting topics I’ve discussed with other Black women is how men approach us. To be specific, how non-Black men approach us. It’s a complex experience and varies from person to person. However, there are some commonalities amongst those I have encountered.
