Equestria, The Land I Love
By Edlyn Escoto

Equestria, the land I love
I first found the world of Equestria when I was a young child. My grandmother gave me her phone with an episode playing as our plane was landing so my ears wouldn't pop. I couldn't stop watching and admiring the adventures of Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity. As I learned much later, the reason this show clicked so well is because of the mix of character types. There's no one right way to be a girl, which has been reflected over this world many times over.
A land of harmony
The main core of the land has always been the magic of friendship as it changes things for the better and creates peace and harmony throughout the land. Influencing all kinds of magical and not-so-magical creatures with its friendly ways. The main cast has always done their best to carry on the emblem of friendship, even as the bearers shifted from relying on gemstones imbibed with the magic to the magic in their hearts.
Our flag does wave from high above
Over thousands of years ago, the three pony tribes settled in their current homeland, led by the kind Private Pansy, the brave Commander Hurricane, the intelligent Clover the Clever, the regal Princess Platinum, the down to earth Smart Cookie, and the bubbly Chancellor Puddinghead. They founded Equestria and united the tribes as one. Along the way, Celestia and Luna raised the sun and moon for the ponies of Equestria and were crowned the reigning Princesses of the land (because Lauren Faust was told the title Queen had too many negative connotations). The lore of the land stretches far and wide in and out of present and past, and you can explore it all throughout the seasons.
For ponykind to see
For the longest time, only ponies were seen as capable of friendship, the only creatures who could bear the honor of friends and embrace it from deep within. Their talents and magic fueling the basis of their abilities, along with their friendship. But not only ponies share this gift of who gets to be friends. Others are capable too, they just need to be shown how to do it.
Equestria, a land of friends, where ponykind do roam
Not just ponies. There are dragons and hippogriffs plenty, changelings and griffons galore. You want yaks and kirins? How about buffalo? Abyssinians? There's so many. Ponies know friendship, but the other creatures can too. Ponies started the journey to complete and utter harmony, but it was the friendship of a dragon, a pony, a griffon, a changeling, a hippogriff, and a yak that finished it.
They say true friendship never ends
And so it never has. Far into the future, friends old and new will meet and laugh and recall times when things were not so simple and they went through troubles and struggles. They will play and dance and talk as the hours pass by. Maybe one day something will change it, but their friendship and hope will always shine eternally in their hearts.
Equestria, my home
Home of all races, all genders, all creatures, all personalities. Equestria welcomes all kinds of creatures no matter who they are or what they look like, peace and harmony held in a world built up by a woman who created so many other wonderful worlds. Now held up by the imagination of the next generation, carrying on all the wayward souls into the one space to accept them.
You see, I could have written about Harry Potter, or Menolly and her Fire Lizards, or She-Ra and her adorable girlfriend Catra. Or maybe the DC Super Hero Girls and how I think Batgirl (Barbara Gorden) and Harley Quinn (Harleen Quinzel) would be so adorable as a couple. I could have written about some of my smaller interests that no one would ever understand why I liked them.
But MLP is my constant. It's the one show I will go back to and the one show I will love forever for any reason under the sun. Possibly even just because I can't explain what it is specifically I love about it.
But I'm always in love with the world and what it shows we can be.
No matter what type of girl or boy or in-between you are.
No matter who you like or if you like anyone at all.
No matter what you wear or what you look like.
No matter how old you are or what anyone says.
Equestria welcomes you.
Welcome, to the family.
