Divine Equations

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 4 months ago 2 min read

Verse 1

Chalk dust on my fingers, midnight on the floor,

Equations like constellations, I open up the door.

The universe is whispering, humming threads of light,

But I need a heartbeat compass to aim this satellite.

Pre-Chorus

We build the ladder, rung by rung,

Ask the how with honest tongue.

Wonder sings, and fear’s entwined—

A map needs north, a voice needs time.

Chorus

Science without religion is lame—

An engine with no star to name,

A ship that sails but leaves its soul behind.

Religion without science is blind—

A lantern with its wick untied,

A pilgrim at high noon with night inside.

Let reason hold devotion’s hand,

Let awe and evidence align.

Science without religion is lame;

Religion without science is blind.

Verse 2

Cathedrals made of data, prayers coded in the cloud,

We measure every heartbeat, we speak in numbers loud.

But mercy is a language no instrument defines,

It tunes the steel precision to the pulse of humankind.

Pre-Chorus

Let every lab coat learn to kneel

To truth, and every sermon feel

The weight of facts the stars have signed—

Two eyes to see, one soul to bind.

Chorus

Science without religion is lame—

An engine with no star to name,

A ship that sails but leaves its soul behind.

Religion without science is blind—

A lantern with its wick untied,

A pilgrim at high noon with night inside.

Let reason hold devotion’s hand,

Let awe and evidence align.

Science without religion is lame;

Religion without science is blind.

Bridge

Let doubt become a kind of faith

That loves the truth more than its face.

Let faith become a kind of doubt

That listens when the world cries out.

Two wings of one bird taking flight,

One sky holding day and night;

One road where head and heart combine—

Feet on the ground, eyes on the line.

Breakdown

Join the compass to the wheel,

Join the spark to tempered steel,

Join the river to the tide—

We see, we walk, we heal, we guide.

Final Chorus

“Science without religion is lame,

Religion without science is blind.”

Let reason hold devotion’s hand,

Let awe and evidence align.

Science without religion is lame;

Religion without science is blind.
