Self-love is not synonymous with narcissism. It has nothing to do with "I, I, I". It has nothing to do with the struggle with those around us to express ourselves and get what we want.

We can look at self-love as the look we give ourselves, a look that comes from the eyes of a loving mother, a loving God. Self-love is directly related to the acquisition and acceptance of personal power and acting from a place of kindness towards ourselves.

Here are twenty reasons why self-love is important and the effects it has on us, according to specialists:

When we love ourselves:

20. We go from failure to abundance in every aspect of our lives without having to struggle or strive to achieve it. Abundance is a state of mind.

19. We shine around us without trying to do anything about it.

18. We become aware of our thoughts and how we react when they cross our minds.

17. We feel safe because we know we will always be here for ourselves.

16. We allow personal development to follow its natural process. Like a tree that grows and provides shade and food to an infinite number of people. The more we grow, the more joy and love we spread around us.

15. We find in ourselves the courage to embrace failure because we know that it is only one step closer to our development and we realize that our importance does not depend on what we produce.

14. We bring harmony, peace, space, and meaningful relationships into our lives.

13. We accept reality instead of blaming it and fighting it because we know that love is in every corner of our lives.

12. We give birth to creativity, inspiration, and openness.

11. We eliminate the concept of competition and the habit of comparing ourselves to others. Therefore, we will always be enough.

10. Our actions are no longer driven by fear because we realize that love is the greatest of all powers. When we choose love instead of fear, we are relieved of our daily stress.

9. We do not feel the need to prove our worth and abilities in front of other people because we know we are enough.

8. We give ourselves permission to be human. We accept mistakes and failures and invite vulnerability into our lives.

7. The more we look at ourselves in terms of self-love, the more we practice love and acceptance of others. We eliminate negative thoughts from our reality and learn to love what it is.

6. We give ourselves permission to be ourselves in the world and to pursue our own purpose.

5. We eliminate the feeling of loneliness from our life and embrace the feeling of unity with the world around us.

4. We become responsible for our lives. We recognize that we ourselves are the source of happiness. We are the source of the power to change our future, career, relationships with those around us, passions, degree of authenticity, and much more.

3. We feel at peace. We accept ourselves, qualities and defects, unconditionally.

2. We feel, hear, and strongly believe in our own power. It doesn't matter what others think or says about ourselves. What matters is how we feel about ourselves.

1. Let feelings like guilt, shame, and anger dissolve. We invite responsibility, creativity, and power into our lives.

”Life is too short to waste any amount of time on wondering what other people think about you. In the first place, if they had better things going on in their lives, they wouldn’t have the time to sit around and talk about you.

What’s important to me is not others’ opinions of me, but what’s important to me is my opinion of myself.” - C. JOY BELL C.
