The Shatter-Tooth Residence
Living in a small town had its perks. Everyone knew everyone like a grandma knew her recipes. Yeah, people talked and sniffed around in each other’s business, but there was a sense of security knowing I was familiar with everyone around me. It was almost as if our town was an entire planet itself, astray from other worlds and completely independent. Stumbleton was home; it always had been. Yet, something stuck out like a stray hair on a stubborn kid’s head. This...this was the mold on our town’s pleasant surface. A dying rose in a field of flourishing flowers.

Phi Ta Khon
The Thai Ghost Festival Introduction The surroundings were pitch black. Like a mother clutching her newborn, the night embraced the moon and the stars. The woman stumbled a few times on the ground, but she picked herself up at a panicked pace every time. The dark alleys of Chiang Khan Street in Thailand were filled with the sound of the woman sprinting away and her labored breathing. She stumbled one last time, and it was apparent that she was hurt this time because she failed to stand up. Chasing behind her was a dark figure holding a sledgehammer. The woman was crying while clawing at the ground in a last-ditch effort to get away. She turned around and pleaded with the dark figure not to hurt her. Getting no response, she screamed for help. The dark figure loosened his grip on the sledgehammer, dropping its head on the pavement. He slowly walked towards the woman while dragging the thing with his left hand. He was purposely making unnecessary noises to terrify his victim even more.

There’s A Creature in The Woodshed
Growing up, it’s easy to ignore stories of monsters who lived here before us. Like they’re just fairytales our parents tell us to put us to sleep, or scare us out of misbehaving. We have enough pride at a certain age to scoff, roll our eyes, and claim how fake it all is.

Moths to a Flickering Light
At night we used to walk for hours. After dark, the light was strange on the west side of the city. The whiff of sulfur came from the streetlamps. They glowed a poisonous orange color that robbed the skin of its beauty and the sky of its stars. A cheap form of lighting, or so they said.

Monte Cristo Homestead in Junee, New South Wales, Australia
I wrote about a true crime case a while back that took place in Australia in the 1940s that continues to boggle minds today. This is my first dive into a haunted house in Australia, though. The entire continent has a long and rich history, going back at least 65,000 years of indigenous Australians. Travel with me now as we head over to look at a place known as Australia’s most haunted house in New South Wales, the Monte Cristo Homestead.

Cursed
A movie played in the background, and we lay there whispering a million sweet nothings with no words passing between us. That was when I felt her soft touch as she ran the tip of her nose across my cheek. I turned to look at her and the world around us became irrelevant. All that mattered was right there in front of me. She had that “kiss me” look in her eyes, and for a brief moment, I forgot how to respond.

Timberline
The silence is absolute, as if time never began here and never will. How can I describe it? As if a wall of glass has been placed by the great hand of a God in the midst of the forest, and no living thing may pass. The trees crowd against their limit, aching to reach into the barren land, and their longing embitters them. They grow twisted, their bark black and limbs contorted.

Why does everybody love Eddie Munson in ‘Stranger Things’ so much?
I know what you’re thinking. It’s not that hard to understand why Eddie is so popular. Like a lot of the characters on Stranger Things and on other shows he has all the telltale characteristics of characters we are often drawn to. He’s super nice and lovable and has memorable and often humorous lines. He’s the type of person we aim to be: he loves himself in all of his eccentricities and he’s comfortable in his own skin. But he also has insecurities and (spoilers ahead) he makes righteous sacrifices. Also, he played some bitchin’ licks. Mystery solved, Sherlock.
