The Jinn’s Wife Sat in My Room One Night — And Never Left Me Again

It began with a dream.

Not a nightmare. Not at first.

Just a woman.

Sitting on a rock by a river I had never seen before.

Hair like midnight. Face hidden behind a soft white veil.

She never moved.

Never blinked.

But in every dream, she was closer.

Night after night.

Until she was sitting in front of me.

---

I tried speaking to her.

> “Who are you?”

She never replied.

Just tilted her head slightly.

And then — I’d wake up.

---

The Whisper That Crossed Over

On the seventh night, I dreamed again.

Same river.

But this time, her hand rose — slowly — and pointed at me.

And a whisper followed:

> “You have been chosen.”

I woke up gasping.

My room felt heavier. The air thicker.

A scent I couldn’t explain lingered — a mix of rosewater and burning wood.

I told myself it was stress.

Lack of sleep.

Overthinking.

Until she came while I was awake.

---

The First Visit

It was 3:11 AM.

I know because I checked the time after I froze.

I had turned to switch off the lamp…

And there she was.

Sitting at the foot of my bed.

Same white veil.

Same motionless posture.

Same silence.

My throat locked.

I couldn’t scream.

I couldn’t blink.

I just stared — and so did she.

But I couldn’t see her eyes.

Only the shape of a face… behind that veil.

---

She sat there for what felt like hours.

Then, slowly…

She stood.

Walked toward the corner.

And disappeared into the wall.

I didn’t sleep again that night.

---

The Touch

The next few days were… hollow.

I was functioning. Eating. Moving.

But I was always… waiting.

I stopped dreaming.

Until the 13th night.

That night, she came again.

But this time, she didn’t sit.

She walked up to me — I was fully awake, under my blanket, heart pounding.

She leaned in.

And placed her hand on my shoulder.

It was warm.

Too warm.

And in that instant, my mind filled with images:

Fire.

Deserts.

Ruins.

A man — tall, dark-eyed — screaming her name:

> “Laayla!”

Then silence.

She removed her hand.

And vanished.

---

After That Night

Things changed.

I began hearing voices.

Not loud.

But always near.

Like someone standing behind me… whispering a language I didn’t understand.

Electronics flickered.

My reflection sometimes… didn’t match my movement.

One night, my shadow stood still even when I moved.

---

I met an aalim.

Told him everything.

He listened calmly.

Then asked one question:

> “Did she touch you?”

I nodded.

He closed his eyes.

> “She’s not just any jinn. She is bound to someone. You’ve been marked.”

> “Marked for what?”

> “To replace.”

---

The Warning

That night, I locked every door.

Every window.

Left every light on.

But she still came.

Not through the door.

Not from under the bed.

Just… appeared.

And for the first time, she spoke:

> “He wants me back.”

> “Who?”

> “My husband.”

> “Then go!”

> “He died in fire. He thinks you are him now.”

> “Why me?”

She said nothing.

Just sat again. Silent. Still.

---

I started waking up with burn marks on my shoulder.

Doctors called it stress rash.

But it always matched her handprint.

I began sleeping outside.

Even tried moving houses.

But she followed.

Everywhere.

---

Now, when I look in the mirror...

Sometimes I see her.

Not beside me.

Inside me.

---

They say once a jinn’s bond is formed through touch, it cannot be undone.

Unless one person dies.

I don’t know what to do.

But I know this:

I’m not alone.

Not ever again.

And some nights, I find myself waiting…

For her.
