Terror Night

Sometimes things are taken too far.

By Nakeya RogersPublished 4 years ago 14 min read

It's Halloween night, and my friends and I are outgoing to haunted houses. When I suddenly realized that Jasmine was missing. I looked around and saw Jasmine's shoe on the porch of an old house.

It was the scariest haunted house in the town. The house has cracks, the grass almost as tall as the trees, scarecrows are sometimes there at night. No one knows what happened to the owner. He just disappeared one day.

We ran through the grass to get to the porch. As we got closer, we saw a flash so, we ran even faster as we went up to the stairs. They creaked as if they hadn't been replaced in centuries.

Jade and I are the only ones going inside the house. Malcolm, Miracle, Lenny, Heather, John, Sean, and Samantha opted to stay outside.

As we go into the house, they yell and say they will call Ms.Lena to help us. So we continued into the house to look through the kitchen and the living room.

When she gets there, she yells our names and runs around the house, and when she finds us, she tells us that the rest of them will call the cops and go wait at the diner across town, and we would meet them there.

We continued to look around when we heard a loud bang, so we went and hid.

When we looked, Lincoln had an Axe yelling, "Jasmine come out, come out wherever you are."

We tried to run, but Ms.Lena fell through the floor. She started yelling, "run, leave me here!!" Lincoln was running at us as we were trying to get her out. Lincoln then threw the Axe and got Mrs.Lena right in the eye. She got one last yelp before her body sagged, and she stopped moving.

We ran around the corner into a hallway that had some stairs. We started to run upstairs, and when we got to the top there, we both slipped on something wet on the stairs and had to catch ourselves. We saw a body lying on the ground as we hit the top step. We took cautious fast steps towards the body, and when we saw it was Jasmine, Jade gasped and ran into a random room and threw up, but I couldn't move. I couldn't believe she was actually dead, not even just dead but mangled.

Her body was mutilated; her head was split right through the middle. I could see her blood oozing from her brain, her limbs were hacked apart at every joint, and the hallway had blood splattered all over it. There was blood dripping from the ceiling.

Then again, we heard Lincoln calling her. Why was Lincoln still calling her if she was already dead? Maybe he wasn't the only killer. We had to get out of the house. We ran into a different room than the one Jade threw up in. All of the windows in the room were boarded up. This room was facing the front of the house where we left everyone, so we tried to pull the boards off the window so could I don't know what we were gonna do but, before we could we heard someone coming so we hid in the closet.

I remembered that I had my phone, I tried to text, but my phone was too bright and didn't have any signal. So when Axe left, we got one of the boards down and looked out the window where we left everyone, but nobody was there. So we ran back downstairs and saw Sean.

I say, "hey, and ask what are you doing here? Did everyone else come in too?"

While looking around him for our other friends.

Then he says, "no, they couldn't make it." with a sinister smirk on his face, but what confused us the most was that he had an ax; we asked what do you have the ax for, and he just smirked. He raised the ax above his head and was about to swing down on us but, then Lincoln came down the stairs saying, "Sean, you're an absolute idiot. Why do you act so dumb? I thought we agreed that Jasmine wasn't supposed to die until we got everyone together so she could die in front of them then kill everyone else."

He couldn't see us because we were hidden between the wall and the stairs. Still, Sean wasn't listening so, Lincoln gave up. He just charged at him full force, and that's when we ran. We had to get through the kitchen to get to the back door, which leads to the convenience store, but it was bolted shut with wood planks, so we turned around and saw them still fighting, so we made our way over. Somehow we make it through without a scratch, and I don't think Lincoln seen us. So we hurried and ran outside. Jade was in front of me, she abruptly stopped, and I ran into her back.

"Jade, what is your problem? Why did you sto….." I trailed off

As I look out, I expect to see our friends waiting with the police so they can help us, but instead, I see them lying there in pools of their own blood.

"Hel...help," we hear from a raspy voice call out.

It was Miracle we ran to her. She was lying next to Heather. She had her eyes open, and it looked like she had died in stress. Miracle was taking quick, shallow breaths; she was squeezing my hand. "Hold on, Miracle, we're gonna call the cops; you're gonna be okay." I cried out

Jade was about to hit the green call button when she stopped breathing. Who killed them? Both killers were in the house. We looked around and couldn't find Malcolm and Lenny. We were about to start running again when Samantha's phone started to go off. When we checked it, the message said, "the people that you can't find are at the one place that you know."

What did that mean? Where did they go? Where were they kidnapped, or did they run? We went to our hideout that was a few blocks away. We used Samantha's phone a few blocks away and called the police.

"911, what's your emergency." the operator said

"There are seven dead bodies at the old house on Grovers and Main st." Jade frantically said into the phone. Then she continued, "my friend and I got away, but I think the killers are still after us." she started to sound more out of breath because we were still running.

"I'm sending units to the house right now. Where are you and your friend's headed so I can send some units to you as well?" they calmly replied

"We are on our way to the big treehouse in Obo park," Jade replied

"You cut out. Could you repeat where you were going again?" She pressed

We were running in-between alleys, and we lost connection before we could tell her again.

Once we finally reached the hideout, we started to think about the message.

"One place you know." We know all kinds of places. Where are we supposed to start?

We heard a noise, but this time we didn't hide. Instead, we prepared with weapons and were ready to kick some butt. We looked outside the hideout, and we didn't see anybody. So we went inside to get our stuff and go somewhere else, but when we got inside, we didn't find our belongings; we found………………. Malcolm and Lenny. They were alive.

Jade asked, "Where were you guys?"

"We don't know how we got here. The last thing we remember is waiting outside of the old house for you guys." Malcolm replied

When I looked at Malcolm and Lenny, they seemed dazed and confused. Like someone had drugged them or something. Then I looked, and that's when I saw it there was a needle in the back of both of their pockets. I didn't say anything, but I took Jade outside to tell her what I saw. When I told Jade, she freaked out, I tried to keep her quiet, but it didn't work. We had to go, leave, stay away from them.

Malcolm asked, "what's wrong with her?"

I lied and said, "her parents called and said she needs to get home now. I'll see you guys later."

Then we left, I noticed that they were following us. We ran through an alley and fell into a ditch. I tried to get out, but it was hard to move. I looked over at Jade, but she was knocked out. Eventually, I passed out when the pain got too bad.

When I woke up, we weren't in the ditch anymore. Instead, we were in a basement that looked kinda familiar. We were tied together while sitting in chairs. Malcolm and Lenny were across from us, bound together as well.

I was so confused they had the needles; they were the only ones to survive. They had to be with the killers. Some people in a clown mask and a horse mask came out of another room. They had a voice changer.

The one in the horse mask said, "I bet you wish you never went into that alley right about now." I was thinking that, but I was never gonna let them know that.

So I said, "no, I was thinking I bet you wish you chose another mask horse face."

Why did she have to listen to me? We could have made it down the block.

"I think... I think I know who the killers are." Jade says after they leave.

I yelled, "who?"

She replied, "calm down, then I will tell you."

I took a couple of deep breaths and said, "Okay, tell me."

She choked on her words a few times like she was holding back tears but managed to say, "I think the killers are…… my parents."

"Are you sure? That's a big conclusion to jump to because this isn't a funny joke." I said

"I'm not trying to be funny; I seriously think the kidnappers are my parents. They might have helped Lincoln and Sean kill everyone." She told us.

I said, "Tell me why you think they are your parents. Why not someone else?"

So she laid everything out, "The one who came out is my dad, he is tall, and he was wearing a shirt that I bought my dad last week, he has my phone in his pocket, the phone I got grounded off of two days ago. The fact that THIS IS MY BASEMENT."

Malcolm asked, "But why would they bring you to your own basement?"

She said, "because I'm not allowed to come down here. I've barely ever been down here. The last time we were down here, my parents yelled at me, but I was after I wrote Baba Ganoush on the wall.

Lenny asked, "What does Baba Ganoush have to do with anything?"

"Nothing but if you, but if you look at the top of the wall over there, you can see it," she said as she tilted her head towards the wall.

No one said a word for about ten minutes. Then they came back out, and Jade starts yelling, "I know it's you, mom, and your dad, so just take off the mask we all know."

Then they say, "wrong, we're not your parents."

"Who are you then?" Malcolm asks

They take off their mask, and it is Lincoln and Sean.

"It was you guys the whole time."

"No, it was Jade's parents."

"So, where are they now?"

"don't worry about it," they replied in unison.

Then Jade started yelling, "where are my parents?"

They said, "you need to shut her before she ends up like her parents."

So we tried making her quiet down, but she just kept whining. Then Sean and Lincoln went into the other room. Malcolm used the needle in his pocket to help himself get out of the ropes. Then he untied Lenny, and they united both of us. When we got out of the basement, we just started running and didn't look back. We couldn't trust anyone, not even each other. We are all going to my house because my parents are out of town for the week.

When we finally reached my house, the sun was coming up. We all showered, ate, and we took turns sleeping with two people keeping watch at a time till everyone was fully rested.

I look at Jade and ask, "why would your parents want to kill everyone."

At first, she was like, I don't know, a little like she was hesitating on answering.

Then she was, "like, remember when you guys locked me in that abandoned apartment building. Well, after You guys let me out, I got home late, and my parents were about to ground me, so I told them what happened, and they were so mad. I managed to convince them not to call you guy's parents, but they were still mad."

"Were they mad because you got home late or because we locked you in?" asked Lenny

I kinda just looked at him as if he was dumb and said, "wouldn't you be upset about both if that was your child?"

We all got hungry, so we went into the kitchen to get some food. While we were eating, I started thinking about how did Malcolm and Lenny getaway? I don't think they would just let them go; they knew something. So I just decided to ask them how they got away? They looked at each other and made eye contact.

Then Malcolm said, "that they didn't know; the last thing they remember before being at the clubhouse was everyone screaming.?

I was still a little suspicious of them, but I didn't say anything because the only thing to be wary of was how they got away, but I was still gonna keep an eye on them.

It was quiet; everyone took turns cleaning themselves up and putting on warmer clothes because it was freezing outside.

I finally broke the silence saying, "We can't stay here for long everyone that is after us knows where I live."

"Where are we going to go?" Lenny asked.

I wanted to split up because I still don't trust them, and having them away from us would make our odds better. As the saying goes, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. I decided that we could stay in this little group.

The most challenging part was figuring out if we should go somewhere crowded or empty. Because somewhere crowded, the killers could just pop up out of nowhere. But, on the other hand, people might not notice, and if we go somewhere spacious, they don't have to be sneaky about coming to get us.

"Let's go to the diner; there are only two ways in and one way out, plus Mrs.Purtch has that shotgun behind the counter," Jade says

My parents left my car, so we all got in and drove across town to the diner.

As we enter the diner, Mrs.Purtch greets us and tells us to sit closer to the bathroom in the diner's back. Fortunately, the seats aren't directly in front of the windows.

We order and just sit there thinking about what we are going to d next and why all of those people would be after us.

I glanced out of the window because I thought I saw something, but I didn't see anything when I looked.

After a while, our food came, and I just happened to look up. I saw Jasmine dragging her right calf under her, and her left arm was hanging on by a thread at the elbow, and she didn't even have a right arm, and there was a giant gash right in the middle of her face.

I got up screaming, "AHHHHHHAHHHHH OH MY FUC*gag*" my throw-up spews all over the floor.

"Oh my gosh, are you okay? What happened?" Jade exclaimed

"She was out the Jasmine was out there, and she was all cut and bloody, and she was coming towards the dinner." I hysterically said

When we looked back out of the window, though, there was no one there, and the streets looked deserted.

"But..but..but she was out there, I swear," I said

Malcolm looked at me in pity and said, "We believe you, but I think it's time we go somewhere else so that you can get some rest or something."

As we are driving, I see all of our friends who died at the house; they are spread out along the street, all bloody. Still, every time I made them look out the window, there would be no one there, and they would tell me to just close my eyes and go to sleep. Finally, we were one block away from the 24hr McDonalds when I saw Sean and Lincoln standing at the end of the road swinging the ax back in forth, covered in blood.

"You guys had to have seen that there is no way my mind made that up," I said in disbelief.

"What are you talking about? The road has been empty the whole time," Lenny exclaimed with a worried expression.

"Look, we are here!!" Jade said as she almost ran from the car

By the time we made it in, Jade was nowhere to be seen. We figured she had just gone to the bathroom, but after ten minutes, Malcolm decided that he was goon go check the restrooms for her.

I went to the front to order our food; they said it should only be a couple minutes, so I just stayed at the counter to wait. I turned around with our tray of food when I saw Lenny's headless body sitting upright at the table and blood along with the Mcdonald's window. I dropped the food and ran right of the door. I was about to keep going, but Miracle, Heather, John, Jasmine, and Samantha were all standing there bloody and cut up. In front of them were Sean and Lincoln wielding their axes with sinister smirks.

When I got back in the building, Lenny's headless body was standing, making its way towards the door like it could see where it was going. They were all making their way into the building, and I couldn't run; they had trapped me against the wall. I was just screaming, scared for my life, thinking that this was where it was gonna end, but eventually, it all became suffocating, and I passed out.

I woke with a start, and I had to take in a big breath of air; my body was soaked from head to toe.

Jade reached out to touch my shoulder, but I flinched away, not knowing who to trust.

"Are you okay? We never meant to make you pass out; it was just supposed to be a joke." Lincoln whispered in shame

"Am I okay no, I'm not okay; I thought I was gonna die and that you and Sean were murders. I thought that everyone was dead. SO NO, I AM NOT okay!!!!" I basically screamed a them

They all looked away in shame.

I told them, "Lose my number and forget I exist," and I walked out of the restaurant and never looked back.

Her 'friends' never heard from her again.
