I Didn't Know
If you knew how this night would end, would you go?

I didn't know it would turn out this bad. I didn't know how bad it was going to be after this. You're probably wondering what I'm talking about, well I'll tell you. One day my friends and I went out a couple of hours from our hometown, even though everyone told us not to because it could be dangerous. We went anyway, I was designated driver, so I had one shot when we got there and didn't have any more drinks after that. We got there around 11:00 p.m.; It was around 3:30 a.m. when I started looking for my friends on the dance floor. When I found all four of my friends, it was around 3:40 a.m. they were easy to spot; they were the only ones in neon clothes, but it was hard to get to them.
Once I reached them and saw how drunk they were. I almost cried. Wren and Jayli them were sloppy drunk, Calik was tipsy, and Sienna was asleep on their shoulders.
It was a hassle to get everyone to the car. After I got them in the car, I locked the doors, then went back in to get them a bottle of water, and on the way out, I bumped into this guy. He was wearing all black, and he didn't say anything, just looked at me. Around 4:15 in the morning, we were finally pulling out of the club parking lot. I decided that we should just get a hotel room for the night because they were drunk. I didn't feel like getting my car cleaned in the morning. As we were on our way to our hotel. I suddenly got dizzy, but I brushed it off to not eating and being sleepy. Little did I know that was not the case at all.
There was this blue van. I saw it a couple of times through the drive to the hotel, but I didn't think anything of it. When we got to the hotel, the same blue van was parked in the parking lot for the hotel. I thought there was going to be a problem. So I looked it up, and this was the only hotel in this town. So I put it in the back of my brain. I asked the hotel manager about the blue van. He kinda just brushed it off and said, "don't worry about it." I was still getting a sketchy vibe nonetheless.
We finally got into the hotel room. As soon as we got in the room, I locked the room door and checked the windows, the bathroom, and the door leading to the other hotel room, just to be sure there was no way into the room. I was still paranoid, so I called my brother and some other friends to see if they could come and get us, but no one answered their phones because it was only 5:00 a.m. So I sent an S.O.S text message saying, get here now!!, and shared our location.
Eventually, they felt sober enough to go to sleep, but I couldn't because I had this feeling deep in my gut that something was going to happen. About 20 minutes had passed before I got up to check the lock, and I also put a chair up against the door, then went and lay down, so I could try to get some sleep. I don't know how long after that, I heard the door pushing against the chain on the door so no one could open the door all the way. I woke up the girls so we could find a way out or something to fight with, and as we opened the door to the other room, and standing there was a man with a gun pointed at me.
The gun was pointed right in between my eyes. The guy holding the gun said, "you're all coming with me."
Calik was in the bathroom because she was just throwing, hiding in the bathroom.
When they got down to the lobby, the hotel clerk asked, "where is the fifth girl?"
The guy with the gun made an annoyed face and replied, "what are you talking about. There is no fifth girl."
The clerk looked at him like he was weird and said, yes, there is a fifth girl, and you only have four." Wondering if he even knew math.
The guy with the gun sent one of his men to go upstairs and check. I was hoping she was already gone, and my brother or friends got my message and were on their way here.
The guy came back downstairs and reported that the room and the bathroom were empty, and we needed to search the entire hotel if we wanted to find her.
As he is yanking us out the door, we hear police sirens. They are pulling into the parking lot of the hotel. We were already outside, and the blue van was parked closer to the door. He was trying to force us to walk faster but, we all started struggling. Sienna got away, but the guy with the gun aims at her and shoots her in the back. The guy holding me wasn't expecting that, and he ended up letting me go. I ran to her and started putting pressure on her back. Wren and Jayli didn't get away; they were pushed into the van. The van screeched out of the parking lot with two police cars following it.
There was an ambulance on standby. So as the two cop cars left to chase the blue van, the ambulance was rushed over to Sienna. They rushed her to the hospital because she was losing a lot of blood fast. I couldn't ride with her because her wound was too fatal, and they needed as much room as they could get to work on her.
While the ambulance was driving away, the cop said he would take me to the hospital on the way.
I asked the cop, "What happened to the hotel clerk?"
The cop Carter replied, "He died from a shot in the head."
I told him that the hotel clerk was in on getting us kidnapped. He said, "that when they were searching the hotel, and they had found a girl ."I told him that that was our friend and that she was in the bathroom when they came in.
Carter replied, "that's what she told us, and she said she was running around the hotel to find a working phone because the ones she had checked had a deadline."
I asked, "How did you guys know to come to help us if she couldn't find a phone to call the police?"
The cop Carter replied, "we didn't know you guys were in trouble or were even here. We have been trying to take down that hotel for a long time. It's part of a drug ring, and tonight we finally collected all the evidence we needed. We were just coming to search the place and take in all workers that were there."
"Where is Calik? Why didn't she come with us?" I questioned
"She said that she wanted to get the car you guys drove and meet at the hospital so that no one had to go back to the hotel to get the car," he responded.
When we finally pulled up to the hospital. I jumped out of the car and ran into the hospital's emergency entrance. As we approached the nurse station, I became so overwhelmed that I couldn't speak, and my mouth got super dry.
Officer Carter asked the nurse, "how is Sienna, and can we go see her?"
The nurse responded, "Sienna is in surgery and might be in there for a while, you guys can wait in the waiting room, and I'll come to get you when you can see her.
As we were heading to the waiting room, officer Carter got a call on his walkie-talkie asking for backup for the blue van. The officer stated they were on Error Place and Avalon Boulevard. Then we heard a crackling sound; then two gunshots went off the walkie cut out.
Third-person pov
of Error place and Avalon Boulevard
The officers were speeding down the street, right behind the blue van. The other police car had gone around to try and stop the van from the front. The officer driving didn't know was that his partner had been working with them for about seven months now. So when the cop car was about to cut the van off, the other cop yanked the wheel to the right and made the crash into a shallow ditch. The other cop didn't have time to react before he was shot in the side of the head. In the other cop car behind the van, they could see the crash and the light from the gun going off, but they were confused when the van pulled over next to the cop car. In the back of the van Wren and Sienna were bound to the railing, crying when they heard a gunshot go off, then felt the van coming to a stop. They thought they had lost the other cop car.
The driver got out and told the other two to stay in the van, one in the front and one in the back with the girls. Then walked to the passenger side of the police car and pulled the officer out.
"Are you okay? What happened?" then his face dropped when he saw the blood on the officer.
He looked inside of the car, and turned around and threw up, then turned around and started cursing out the officer because no cop was supposed to die. While this is happening, another cop car is pulling up behind the van. When they got out of their cop car, they could hear the end of the conversation. The cop was telling the driver (to get in the van and drive off, and he would say that he shot the cop and that was what made the car crash).
The guy got irritated at the girls crying and smacked Wren in the face. Jayli got loose and found a pipe in the back of the van and hit him over the head.
One of the officers goes into the van to get the girls, but he sees a male body lying on the ground when he enters. The other police officer stands guard outside, in his head though he was wondering where their backup was. So he called for backup again right as the other kidnapper came around the side of the van, and they both shot the officer's walkie was shot. The other kidnapper got shot in the arm.
Back at the hospital
Officer Carter ran full speed to his car and sped out of the parking lot and down the street towards Error Place and Avalon Boulevard. The cop was speeding down the road. He called for more backup and an ambulance for the officer and the girls.
Immediately upon arrival at Error place, He said, "oh my gosh." The girls were sitting on the back of the van, holding each other while crying. While the cop was holding his neck, trying to stop a shot to the neck.
He could barely talk, and he was covered in so much blood. The cop was sliding down the van while using his upper back to try to stay up, but the blood wasn't making it any easier. When the cop reached him, he helped him get down on the ground. "Biccs" was all he could make out before blood started spilling out of his mouth.
The cop was calling for an ambulance when he saw something sliding along the concrete, trying to get away out of the corner of his eye. The cop drew his gun and started cautiously moving around the van when the guy suddenly turned around and tried to shoot at the cop when the cop fired a shot at him and killed him. He hurried back around the van to get the girls, but when he came back around, one of the girls was outside the van, and the other was inside with a man holding a gun to her head.
Other POV
I have been waiting here for what feels like forever. When Sienna got here, she got rushed right into surgery, then the cop had to rush off, and no one has given me updates about that. Finally, a nurse came out and explained that the surgery could take a while because she had lost a lot of blood. The bullet hit right next to her spin and one wrong move, and she could be paralyzed from the waist down. They offered me a room to shower and change because I have Sienna's blood all over me.
After I cleaned up, I went back out to the waiting room, and a couple of moments later, Wren and Jayli came rushing over to me to give me hugs.
"How is Sienna?, Where's Calik?" Wren asked while still hugging me
I took a deep breath and replied, "About an hour ago, the doctor said the surgery is taking this long because she lost a lot of blood and the bullet hit next to her spin. If they make one wrong move, she could be paralyzed from the waist down. I don't know she was supposed to be getting the car and meeting me here, according to the cop, but she never showed, and that was hours ago. "How are you guys? Are you hurt? How did you get away?" I asked
"Well, there was a dirty cop; when we were in the back of the Jayli knocked out one of the guys, and she was about to hit a cop, but she saw it was a cop, she stopped. The cop finally got us out of the van to move us to the ambulance; when the guy woke up and attacked one of the paramedics checking on him. So they had to give him some type of sedative," Wren said. She was about to continue, but my phone started ringing and going off with text messages before she could finish.
When I accepted the call, my brother yelled my name and asked if I was okay and where I was, then he started asking about my friends. I screamed his name, and he finally got quiet so that I could answer his questions. I told him I was at the hospital and that Sienna was the only one that got hurt, and that only one person from the group that tried to kidnap us was alive. He said he was maybe 15 mins out and would be here soon.
After we got off the phone, the doctors came out and told us that Sienna pulled through, and she would need to stay in the hospital for a few weeks and, when she got out, she would more than likely need assistance. So they will be moving her to a hospital to be surrounded by people she knows.
Exactly like my brother said, 15 minutes later, he ran into the hospital screaming my name. When he saw me, he ran up to me, gave me a big hug, then turned around and hugged Wren and Jayli. After he asked about Sienna and Calik, I reiterated what the doctor told us and what I told them. By this time, Sienna had been in the hospital for almost a full day, and the doctors needed to make sure she was stable enough to make the few-hour drive back home. They also told us we weren't allowed to ride in the back with her because we weren't related. They said Sienna should be ready to get on the road in a couple of hours.

This was not supposed to happen. It was supposed to be a quick and easy grab; the girls were so drunk they wouldn't have even known what was happening. Instead, Lani was dosed with something hit immediately, but the effects wouldn't come until later.
I pulled up to the hospital in my E.M.T. uniform.
A doctor told me my transfer patient would be ready in a few minutes when I walked in.
"Just call number 48 when they are ready," I replied
Fifteen minutes later, they announced over the intercom, "Number 48, your transport ambulance is ready to go."
As I walked to the transport door, I could see Lani, Wren, and Jayli huddled up next to each other, looking concerned about Sienna. Oh, how bad I wanna laugh, but there is no time for that.
When I get in the ambulance, they make me sign off that I received the patient. Pulling out of the hospital, I felt a weight lift off of my shoulder. The door to the back opened, and someone sat in the passenger seat.
"What took you so long, Calik? Do you know how annoying it was to hear them cry over me? Seriously look at me; I'm perfect."
"Well, no one expected the cops to show up, so I had to clean up a few loose ends, including planting bombs at the motel. We can't use this town anymore." I replied.
We have been driving for a little over an hour now, and I see the trail we are supposed to follow to switch cars, clothes, and hair. We got into the other car and drove off into the sunset, or that's how we wished it felt. We owed some forceful people, either girls or money and right now, we had neither. We had but ourselves, so I guess we'll just lay low for now.
Lani pov
The doctor came and told us that Sienna was ready to go and that her transport was already here. Unfortunately, we couldn't see her beforehand because they didn't want to possibly give her an infection. We were also told that we wouldn't be able to see her right away at the other hospital, so we could see if we could find Calik and get some food before heading back home. So, we were headed back to the motel to get the car and see if Calik was there. Pulling into the parking lot felt just a creepy as it did the first time.
"This is the place you guys decided to stay," My brother questioned with a disappointed face.
I was about to respond when the ground began to shake all of a sudden. I looked at the motel building and could see bits and pieces flying from under the building. You could feel the wind coming from the building and the sounds of smashing when the building collapsed on itself. We got out of the car to see if anyone was alive. A few feet into the rubble, there was a hand attached to a forearm, and the fingernails were painted white just like Calik's were. Immediately I started screaming and crying, calling her name; she lost part of an arm. That doesn't mean she's dead, but I knew after a while and no response.
Finally, the police and the firefighters showed up. They had been digging around for a bit, looking for people who could have been in the building. When I got a call from the hospital saying that the ambulance Sienna was being transported in was lost. They couldn't get ahold of it anymore. If I knew the night would end like this, I would have never gone out, but 'I Didn't Know.'
