12 Terrifying Real Life Ouija Board Stories. (2021)
The mystifying oracle known as the “Ouija Board” has been a sensation among paranormal enthusiasts and people of all ages up until this day. Originally re-invented as a parlor game by the Fuld brothers in 1898, they decided to cash in on the spiritualism craze and the board became an instant phenomenon. The Egyptians (before the birth of the actual board) would use a similar technique to contact their deceased ancestors, which involved a ring suspended by a thread, and then they would hold it over a board with symbols on it.

“The Haunting At Lookout Lake”
“Lookout Lake is one of our towns few tourist attractions so we don’t often talk about it’s history with outsiders!” the librarian said loudly in what was almost a scream then quickly covering an embarrassment caused red faced mouth with one hand due to the volume. Right then I knew I was on to something. I asked to see any information they had and trembling from either fear, old age, or both the librarian led me to the back where old microfilm machines and rotting newspapers were and provided me with a pile of information to sort through. I had just acquired the property from an online auction and was surprised at the low price and wanted to learn more about it. By the librarian’s reaction I knew then I was about to learn more than I’d bargain shopped for.

An Unforgiveable Act
Can you hear me? Am I loud enough? Am I as loud as a banshee? Do I rattle your soul? You thought you could break me. You thought it would quench your darkness. But little did you know, this power you feel inside you, is not power, it's weakness.

The Queen of the Unliving
"What is a novice of Kirshara doing standing at my doorstep?" The Seer demanded. "Your order has no love of my kind." The Seer was said to be blind, and those milky white eyes certainly seemed to confirm that, but those eyes were locked on me and it felt like they were staring into my soul. She was dressed in a simple gray robe, and holding a sturdy looking cane that probably knocked a head or two. The Seer’s wrinkled face indicated she wanted to do so now

The Party
James got the invite from Phoebe, who if he was being honest, he always thought was a bit of a weirdo. He was pretty sure she was around the same age as him, at least he assumed, she went to Redwood Community college just like him and she looked fairly young. He wouldn’t place her any older than twenty. She was attractive in a mousey sort of way, but he had heard around the school that her whole family were a bunch of religious nuts. So, when she stopped him after biology to invite him to a party he was surprised, to say the least. When she said that it was being held at Camp Firefly, he almost fell over. Camp Firefly had been a summer camp in the eighties, located in the forest outside of town, right on the shores of Lake Browin. It closed down years ago, so she and her friends would be trespassing. Maybe she wasn’t such a wet blanket after all.

The Pond
We moved into this house about a week ago and from the start the entire place seemed odd. An old creaky house, near a dark pond and in the far corner of the yard next to some trees was a single gravestone. A name that was so faded you couldn't read it but the date was eerily clear, it read 1670 -1677. I asked my grandfather about it since the land previously belonged to him. He told me the story of a little girl who lived there long ago and who had drowned in the pond.

The Black Chandelier
Several years ago my daughter and I had a frightening, ghostly encounter. First let me explain that the women in my family have always been sensitive to the supernatural. Once my mother was home in bed relaxing and started thinking about her best friend and what she was doing. Suddenly, she heard Dottie's voice and other people's voices. She heard their banter and realized they were playing cards. Dottie was winning. At first, mom thought it was just her imagination, but about an hour later, Dottie knocked on her door. Mom asked her if she had been at the bar playing cards. Dottie said yes. Mom then asked her if she had won. Dottie's eyes grew large, and she asked, "How did you know?" Mom said, "I heard you." Then she named off all the people that were playing cards with Dottie at the bar, and Dottie confirmed that she was correct. Mom even recounted some of the conversations that were going on around the card table.

Treasure Hunt
Molly jabbed her spade into the warm December sand and flicked each shovelful over her shoulder. She loved Treasure Hunt here on Paraparaumu beach. Each year the Kapiti Council arranged this dig for toddlers and preschool children. At stake were a new bike and several other splendid prizes. All you had to do was find one of the six medallions hidden in the sand above the watermark and then run to the prize desk to see what you had won.
