They'd planned for this day, Friday August 24th because they were running out of time. There was only ten days left before they had to go back to school. Everyone was feeling the pinch and wanted to squeeze in as much summer fun as they could. They packed a light lunch and some water to make a day of it. Danny made them swear absolute secrecy for the mission, so they told their parents that they were just going for a hike in the woods to build a tree fort. They had a few forts scattered around Glen Thomas therefore it wasn't that out of the ordinary for them and didn't attract any undue attention.
