fiction
Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
The Night Owl's Warning
“Dave still doesn’t believe me about the night owl’s warning.” I stare at the ceiling of my shrink’s office. She’s scribbles notes on her pad. I asked her once to show me the notes she’d written about me, but she refused. She said it wasn’t beneficial for me to see them while my treatment was still continuing. I wondered if she shared them with Dave. If that was how she convinced him that I still needed the sessions.

Flowers From The Bones
CW for blood, death, self-harm, apocalyptic narratives, and the fae being the fae. There is a place, deep in the heart of the woods. There is a wild place, a hungry place. The sun breaks through the leaves in green-gold hush, and when birds sing it shocks the trees and the flowers beneath them. There is a place; you may find me there. Or you may not.

The Night Owl
I stared down at the clipboard in my arms, taking notes on a recent experiment as I wander the empty halls of the research building. The loud sound of my shoes echoed off the mellowed grey walls. Soft blue lighting over my head illuminated the pages as my pen dragged in various curves, writing up another successful animal experimentation we had been planning for a while. It was the only light that I had, the day had fallen to night and all you could see to my right, outside the large windows, was a few closely planted trees that occasionally tapped it's overgrown branches against the glass.

A Series of Eerie Continued
I couldn’t bring myself to look in the freezer. I grabbed the dress and locked the room, I left it the way I found it and ran into the house. I hung the dress up on the hanger and sketched some changes I wanted to make to it. After my nerves calmed down I decided I would go to the police station and tell Officier Wynn everything.

Life and Death
Frost clung to the air, it’s icy bite mixing with the scent of freshly lit gunpowder and a hint of iron creating a pungent aroma. Tops of trees were decorated with white crystals sparkling in the sun’s light, undisturbed by the chaos that had erupted just before the sun had begun to rise.

That Old Barn
There was always that old barn by the farm near my house, it always had a presence that was so unsettling. I never knew what actually went on at that farm, I always assumed it was just normal farm things, like chickens and goats lived there. But I always had a hunch that something was going on there; I never saw a farmer or anyone there which was obviously odd.

A Witch's Fate
I quickly packed the trunk as quickly as I could. Time was short, and he would be here soon. Just as I thought that, there was a firm and loud pair of knocks at the door. I raised the broom in my hand in defense before I heard a loud, male voice call from behind the cabin door. “Mrs. Tully? It’s Mr. Sampson. I’m here to pick up your delivery.”

The Owl With One Claw
DAY 2 So far, this is my second day in this enormous cabin in Bushkill, Pennsylvania. I am fortunate that the owner, Mr. Owens who is a retired detective, is letting me rent out a room here even though my credit is horrible. My bedroom is very spacious. The environment is great. The serenity is what I need when I write my stories. Hopefully, people will know the name David Mills. I am 24. Maybe I will be a best-selling author before I turn 30.

Night
The first few times the woman came, Nightwing had flown. The noises startled him more than the intrusion into his home. After all, humans were ground-bound. His perch high in the rafters was safe from the interloper. It was an excuse to get out and hunt anyway. He'd long ago picked over all the mice and other tidbits that had inhabited the barn before he claimed it as his.
