Best Horror Movies of 2017
Horror movies will always be popular because nothing is more exciting to see in the theatre then a creepy film that has you on the edge of your seat. A well-executed horror film is not easy to pull off, it takes a subtle hand who really knows when to go for it and when to hang back and build tension, and for this reason there is no shortage of terrible ones.

My In-depth Review/Retrospective of Phantasm
The Review: Hello and welcome to my first review. Phantasm is a film that is very close to my heart. This is due to the fact that it is one of the few movies that consistently frighten me with each consecutive viewing. Which for me, is rare within the American slasher genre. As I really don't scare so easily.

Anguli Pythonissam
*10 years ago* I was just laying in bed, watching my favorite YouTubers, and eating some chips, slowly dozing off but fighting the urge to fall asleep. The video was almost over anyway, might as well finish it. But my body had other plans. All of a sudden, I couldn't breathe, I couldn't move, there was a ringing in my ears, and all I could see was straight into the eyes of...something. It was a black mass, almost having a human figure, but things were just not quite right to say it was human. It had big, glowing eyes that seemed to not allow me to look away, and a mouth full of sharp teeth, dripping with blood. It was moving towards me from the corner of my room. It reached out its hand as it glided over, its limbs too long to be natural.

A Dog's Dream
Advancing towards me with that evil grin, a look of death in his eye; “Scott!!” My owner screams in my defense, but her words don’t do anything. He grabs me, lifting me off the ground. I can’t fight it. He walks over to the railing and hovers me over it. All I see looking down is the far away asphalt where I will die if he lets go.

Movie Review: 'Corpse Party'
In making a movie out of a video game, there is a lot of risk involved. In one, you risk alienating the loyal fanbase that game has, or simply making a mockery of it. The Super Mario Bros. movie had a few good things going for it, a few nods to the game series, otherwise, it was a title about and otherworldly dystopian world with little to do with the source material, and sadly, the bad outweighed the good. Then came Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, I could go on. In fact, these days, you see more movies based on games than the other way around, especially when Acclaim was still in business during the 16-bit era. Another thing to consider is most of these game franchises were created in Japan, with American and Canadian film studios making the movies.

Broken Home
The adventurer strode boldly along the grey and dusty path, weary from his latest escapade, although he did not show it. He was walking for ten minutes or more, when he came across a set of old stone steps. They were wide, with what clearly used to be a magnificent marble balustrade, but were now cracked and crumbling.

Schroder Farm Part 2
Lucas sat Jude at the end of the kitchen table farthest from the door with the rifle still in his hand. Hamish slouched on the opposing side of Jude, supported by his elbow as he stroked his course, graying beard. All three of the farmhands stewed in silence that was only broken once, by the roll of the thunder as he quaeritated the right words to say to Jude.

Medium
I hear the bell of my door ring with a following slam. No one called out to me, as they often do. Here in my home, I provide the service of fortune telling. Many clients thrive on my readings, as if they struggle to face the unknown. Always prepared, must know what comes forth toward them, leaving no sight unturned. None are as aggressive to my door as the slam. Often they lurk in slowly as if held in skeptics and paranoia. A questioning fear that what dwells within the confines of my home is monstrous and will pull them inward to a ghastly demise if disturbed. They speak softly to me, and call my name with hesitance. To whom would want to anger a medium?

The Haunted Children's Hospital (Chapter 4)
"The variable goes over here, while these two..." My math teacher droned on in a deep monotone voice. I was hardly paying attention anyway, staring out the classroom window. I couldn't get the shadowy figure I saw the day before out of my head. The school bell rang, snapping me out of my own thoughts. Gathering my things, I jotted down the homework assignment onto my hand and quickly left the classroom. I headed towards my next class, hoping to not bump into Miss Fake Blonde and her minions. I gritted my teeth at just the thought of seeing those girls again.
