Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'Land Shark' (2017)
I was scrolling through Tubi which has a multitude of cheese movies and came across one entitled Land Shark. Apparently, my wife had seen this hot mess before and suggested it as a potential good-bad movie. I have to tell you, it did not disappoint. In the category of "So Bad It's Good" I'd place this gem along side the original Carnosaur. Of course, Carnosaur didn't have CGI to work with, so mostly all they had was a green screen and a dinosaur hand puppet. Land Shark doesn't leave out the hand puppet but I really wished they'd leaned on the practical FX more than CGI.

Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'The Blob' (1988)
You know, it's surprising how revolutionary this movie was for crap 80s horror. But If you really think about it, The Blob kind of defied a lot of horror norms, all of which we take for granted today. Many of the norms it defied, you’ll regularly hear me bitching about, such as "Black Guy Dies First" or "Weaker Sex Syndrome."

The Brookwest Horror
Introduction Mannequins. They’re relatively simple things, always around nearly every corner of every store in every mall. They never seem to catch your eye, never serving any other purpose but to display clothing; nothing more than a passing banality. However, on rare occasions, something does catch your eye.

The Disappointments in Horror
Where did the scares go? What happened to the movies that keep you up at night? Or the movies that make you jump and hold on to the person next to you, also embarking on the cinematic adventure. Growing up on horror movies like Aliens, Candyman, and Puppet Masters may have desensitized horror fans from getting the new thrills and jumps for modern movies. I recall a time where I was afraid to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night with the thought of Candyman being there. Now, three horror movies can be watched back to back with no cartoons in between and sleep peacefully. There is one Director that is becoming more and more elevated with his storytelling type movies: James Waan.

Insomnia
It was a beautiful stormy night, wind blowing, rain coming down, and the light that shot across the sky resembled fireworks on the forth of July! The thunder was the only thing that would shock you about that storm, its loud crack followed by a bang was so unpredictable and would’ve definitely woke her up if she wasn’t already awake. The room was completely pitch black, only light was that of the occasional near by lighting bolt; flashing a strobe of white into the all black canvas she stared into. What was she even doing up? Things she would ponder at this time. It didn’t make sense, she knew that it was important she woke up well rested, then again, she could easily blame her insomnia on the storm. She tossed her body over to the right side, trying desperately to find a more comforting position. No luck, she quickly shifted back on her back, facing the black empty ceiling. She tried closing her eyes for a moment, this only gave her mind the opportunity to remind her that she was faking and go through an archive of things she forgot to do earlier that day. “Great!” she said softly to herself. Every part of her was caving into the idea of giving up hope of trying to get some sleep. Just as the crackling sound of the thunder smacked her eardrums, she finally sparked an idea.

Every person in the world has had a nightmare at some point in their life. Some haunt us. Some are recurring. Some may only have a nightmare here and there. Some are traumatic. Some can, on rare occasions, even be comical.

Neighbours (Part 7)
1AM I can't sleep. It's as if the thought of him is ingrained so deep in my mind I cannot duck my head out, and it consumes me, yet it's still comforting somehow. I wonder when he's going to come. I hope it's soon. I turn around, my left cheek on top of the pillow facing the dark corners of my room. I soon give up though; I can't even close my eyes. I'm too awake to be laying in silence, so I decide to help myself to a glass of water.
