This Is Not a Ghost Story
The ghosts were there, everyone knew it, and in a lot of ways we all had gotten used to them. There was Mattie and John, an old Italian couple—they guess was they had passed sometime in the early 1800’s. And Frances, who was sweet, but had a tendency to sneak up on people. We weren’t sure if she did it on purpose because she secretly liked scaring us, or maybe just shy and didn’t realize how creepy it was to see a middle-aged English woman in your bathroom mirror while you were shaving. Either way, she was always so apologetic about it we mostly overlooked it.

Black Night, Black Cat
Dark night! Dark cat! Dark everything! The black cat was lurking about its usual path for the night looking for a dirty rat to play with. It would have even settled for a nest with a sleeping bird. It wasn’t looking for food, because it was a house cat that had food in its belly. It was always let go by its inebriated owner at night, so it could get its nightly freedom. It’s nightly breath of killer instincts.

Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'Mandy' (2018)
With The Color Out of Space soon to be released, I figure I'd give Cage one last chance, and see if he has what it takes to pull off Cosmic Horror of the likes of H. P. Lovecraft. I wrote an article a little while back, skeptical of Cage's ability to do the genre any justice. You can read that article at the following link: Nicholas Cage: What Does He Contribute to Horror?

Disturbing Explosions Around Me
I was just skating down the street during a super-wonderful day. The sun was hitting my face and the warmth was just so enticing. I remember that detail very clearly. It was pretty much a perfect day. There were also kids around running and playing around the block. As far as I remember, the kids were people that I did not recognize. I was just mesmerized by the beautiful day.

Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'House of 1000 Corpses' (2003)
I haven't watched this movie recently, but I watched it so many damn times that I know it intimately. This movie is the first time I really identified Sid Haig as an actor and paragon of horror. I'd likely seen him before, maybe first in Planet Terror, but Captain Spaulding firmly cemented Sid into my memory. I'd see him along the way in things like Creature (2011), and of course every fucking thing that Rob Zombie ever does. We have to give Rob that. He rescues forgotten actors from the dust bin. Sid was the best find, I think.
