There was only one rule: don’t open the door.

We thought the rule was to keep us from going out and drinking. None of us thought it was because they didn’t want anyone to know the door was locked. Looking back, I can't say we were naive. We were just kids who put faith in adults who were supposed to protect us.

Our night began the way any Prom After-Party would. With kids having the time of their lives. Until the lights flickered. That’s when the horror show started.

Fluorescent bulbs flashed and burst, showering down shards of glass that cut skin as they fell. Questions of "What's going on?" rose along with sniffles and muffled cries. A few of us decided to break the rule and ran to the door only to find it securely locked from the outside.

Every eye in the room searched franticly for answers. That's when we saw them. Half of the chaperones lay dead on the floor, with blood pooling beneath their bodies.

The chaperones that weren't dead stood in a group at the other end of the gym. Looking different than when they'd welcomed us into the party.

They approached wearing white makeup, slicked-back hair, and black robes. As they came, their bodies began to transform into ungodly creatures.

Gym teacher Carl Malone, who now had horns protruding, and fangs, spoke in a guttural growl. "Sacrifice the blood of the children." In terrifying blood chilling screams, these demon creatures who used to be our teachers charged. Panic rushed over us in a wave of fear that sent kids running in every direction.

That's when Custodian Sandra Block burst through the door wearing priest's clothes and carrying a fire hose opened fully. Shouting, "I smite thee with the water of the holy!"
