Puri Jagannath Temple
Mysteries surrounding the Jagannath Temple that transcend reason
Overview
For believers, the well-known Jagannath Temple in Puri is very important. In addition to being one of India's Char Dham pilgrimage sites, it is well-known for the yearly Rath Yatra, or chariot festival. Based on multiple traditions, King Indradyumn constructed this sacred temple following his dream guidance and blessing from Lord Vishnu in order to locate Nila Madhava.
King Indradyumn discovered an iron rod floating in the river while taking one of his sacred swims. Then, according to legend, Lord Vishnu whispered to him that his heart, which would stay on the land eternally, is represented by the floating rod. The king then hurried to Lord Jagannath with the rod and covertly inserted it into him. He never permitted anyone to ever touch or view the rod.
Additionally, it is thought that Sapt Rishis counselled the Pandava's to travel to the "Char Dham" in order to attain "moksha" as they set out on their quest to Yamraj. Moreover, the Jagannath Temple in Puri is one of the "Char Dhams" sacred sites. Since then, devotees can only see Jagannath idol during specific times; he has always been off-limits to the public.
In addition to all of these details, the Puri Jagannath Temple is renowned for a few mysteries that transcend comprehension. Many consider these mysteries to be Lord Jagannath's blessings. To believe it, you have to come here.
Temple Flag that is incomprehensible
Oddly enough, the flag atop the temple always flies against the direction of the wind. The flag that was drifting in the opposite direction stops your scientific thinking, leading you to assume that there is a force stronger than science.
The Sudarshan Chakra
In actuality, the chakra is 20 feet tall and quite heavy. It is installed above the temple. The intriguing thing about this chakra, though, is that it is visible from every location in Puri. You can always sense that the chakra is facing you, regardless of your position, which begs the engineering question of why it was placed where it was.
No Birds or Planes soar above the Temple
You'll be shocked to learn that the temple is not overflowed by any aircraft or birds. This feature, however, is unique to this temple and none other in India. The location is actually a no-fly zone that has been declared by a supernatural force rather than any state authority. It also seems that there is no explanation for this phenomenon. It is still a mystery.
Architecture of the Temple
The temple is designed in such a way that it never casts a shadow during the day. Whether this is a technical marvel or a phenomenon that can only be explained by a supernatural force is still up for debate.
Enigma of the Sea
You must have noticed that, wherever you go in the world, the wind from the sea blows toward the land during the day and the opposite occurs in the evening. But the laws of geography are also inverted in Puri. Here, the exact reverse occurs.
Prasadam Mystery
Nothing goes wasted at the Temple of Jagannatha. Records indicate that between 2,000 and 20,000 worshipers attend the temple on any given day. However, the amount of prasadam prepared in the temple doesn't change from year to year. However, there is never a shortage of prasadam or wastage on any given day.
Cooking Technique of Prasadam
This unique treat is actually prepared in pots using firewood. For this, seven pots are utilised, stacked one on top of the other. It's interesting to see that in this instance, the contents of the pot at the top cook first, then the pots at the bottom.
