How I Started MagicBytes: The Story of a Mother and a Doctor Starting Over

Introduction

I was a doctor. When I migrated from Afghanistan to the United States, I thought I could continue my career. However, my credentials were not accepted here, and to continue my profession, I had to pass several difficult exams and improve my English. I am a mother of children, and at that time, I had neither the financial resources nor enough time to study for the exams. Life became very hard for me. Since I couldn’t continue any of the professions I had in the past, I had to start over from scratch, not knowing where to begin.

During those days, I would always bake different kinds of pastries at home and give them to my family and friends. I loved baking, but I never thought it could turn into a career. Everything changed when one of my neighbors asked me to bake some pastries for her. After she tasted them, she really liked them, and from that moment, I felt that maybe this was a great opportunity.

I chose the name MagicBytes because I wanted to create a global brand. I didn’t want my business to be limited to just one ethnic group or nationality; I wanted people from all over the world to enjoy my pastries. MagicBytes felt like a name that would allow me to expand without boundaries. It represented the idea that I could create pastries for everyone, no matter where they are from.

My first step was to set up a small workspace. In the beginning, I baked pastries at home and gave them to neighbors and friends. But over time, the number of customers grew, and I decided to take it more seriously. Every day, more people came to me for pastry orders, and I realized this was a big opportunity.
