The theme for World Radio Day 2024, which is set for February 13, 2024, has been selected by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to honor radio's rich history, continued significance, and bright future.

The commemoration in 2024 will focus on the development of radio and its significant influence on news, drama, music, and sports. It also acknowledges the continuous usefulness as a transportable public safety net in times of emergency and blackouts brought on by both man-made and natural disasters, including war, storms, earthquakes, floods, heat waves, wildfires, and accidents.
Additionally, Radio Radio's democratic relevance as a grassroots facilitator for community building among marginalized groups—such as immigrant, religious, minority, and impoverished populations—continues.

Context
World Radio Day (WRD) was observed on February 13, which was declared an international day by the United Nations General Assembly (A/RES/67/124) in 2012 after being declared by the UNESCO Member States in 2011.
