🇺🇸 Lawmakers Praise Trump’s Bold Move

Thirty-one members of the United States Congress have publicly commended former President Donald Trump for re-designating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) due to reports of increasing violence against Christians.

The commendation came through a statement by Rep. Robert Aderholt, Chairman of the House Values Action Team, describing Trump’s move as a “necessary and courageous action” to confront what he called a growing Christian genocide in Africa’s largest nation.

> “President Trump’s leadership gives hope to persecuted Christians in Nigeria,” Aderholt stated. “This violence must stop, and America must take the lead in defending faith around the world.”

⚖️ “A Moral Outrage,” Lawmakers Say

Other U.S. lawmakers, including Tom Emmer, Lisa McClain, Mary Miller, Josh Brecheen, and Mark Alford, joined in the praise, urging stronger international measures to address the crisis.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer said:

> “God bless President Trump for standing up and protecting Christians across the globe. The U.S. finally has a leader unafraid to do what’s right.”

Republican Chair Lisa McClain described the killings as “a moral outrage and a crime against humanity,” insisting that global silence would only embolden extremists.

🌍 Restoring the CPC Designation

Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Africa Subcommittee, Rep. Chris Smith, applauded Trump’s decision to reinstate Nigeria’s CPC status — a move that had previously been revoked by the Biden administration.

> “This is a critical step toward holding the Nigerian government accountable for its role in the unchecked murder, rape, and torture of Christians,” Smith said.

Other lawmakers such as Don Bacon, Andy Biggs, Gus Bilirakis, and Tim Walberg urged Washington to use every diplomatic and strategic tool available to protect religious minorities in Nigeria.

🕊️ Trump’s Statement on Truth Social

Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform last Friday, described the violence as an “existential threat” to Christianity in Nigeria.

> “Thousands of Christians are being slaughtered by radical Islamists,” he wrote. “The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities continue.”

He vowed that his administration would “stand ready, willing, and able to defend Christians worldwide.”

🙏 “We Can’t Look Away Anymore” – Rep. Riley Moore

Rep. Riley Moore, one of the first lawmakers to raise the issue, said Trump’s decision showed moral clarity and courage.

> “We can no longer turn a blind eye while our brothers and sisters in Christ are being massacred,” Moore said. “This action brings real hope for change.”

🇳🇬 Nigeria Dismisses U.S. Allegations

In reaction, the Federal Government of Nigeria dismissed the U.S. designation as “misinformed.”

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said Washington’s position stemmed from a flawed understanding of Nigeria’s security dynamics.

> “The narrative of Christian persecution is inaccurate,” Idris told reporters in Abuja. “Nigeria faces terrorism, banditry, and communal conflicts, but these are not religious wars.”

President Bola Tinubu also reiterated that Nigeria remains committed to religious freedom, stating that his government works with both Christian and Muslim leaders to promote peace and unity.

> “Nigeria stands as a constitutional democracy that guarantees liberty of worship to all citizens,” Tinubu said in a statement issued on November 1.
