Why Read The Queen Collection?

An insight into my life as an artist.

Inspiration is Everywhere

The Queen Collection is a series of short stories that are drawn from everyday life experiences. I find inspiration while pumping gas, smelling a fragrance, observing a conversation, or by watching those around me interact. A common question I get from my readers, is where do I get my ideas from. I get my ideas from everywhere. Inspiration through my own life experiences, vicarious experiences, and random stories that just pop into my head.

I promise I have about ten stories with thirty different characters all swirling in my head waiting to get out. When I get an idea, I try to almost always jot down exactly what is on my mind. This can be on scratch paper, on my laptop, or in my notes section on my phone. I am a very emotional writer. While most writers agree that you have to write each and every day to perfect your craft, it is so difficult for me to write when I am uninspired. I get so caught up in my characters and in their lives, sometimes my stories feel too real. When my own life experiences or someone else's inspires me, I take a snapshot of the incident and create a whole story from it.

None of my stories are about anyone real in my life, but one day when I'm ready to write a memoir about my life it will be interesting lol! I hope this answered any questions you may have about what inspires me to write short stories.

The Queen Values Love

Another one of the most asked questions I get about my work is why do my books center on love. Why not love? Shakespeare once wrote, "The course of true love never did run smooth." Falling in love, being in love, failing in love, and being disappointed in love are all universal experiences for people. No matter the race, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality we can all relate to love. It is one of the most complex experiences of human life. In the stories I craft, I like to look at love from all angles. We all search for our one true love. In that search, we often find turmoil, hurt, and disappointments. Once the lust fades, and real love deals with temptation and conflict, we find that love is not all peaches and cream.

Love will always be one of the major themes of all my works. It is an incredible experience that deserves to be explored. Yes! I am working. Believe it or not, I have THREE titles I am working on at the moment. School and work were my primary focus this past year, but I have not stopped writing! One of my stories, which will be my first release on Vocal, is entitled "From Darkness" (Don't quote me on that, I will change a title quick!) The story will trace the love life of Celia. "From Darkness" is the coming of age story of a young girl, Celia that struggles to find her identity growing up in the South in the 1980s. There will be drama, heart break, and most importantly, LOVE ...everything you need for a good story! I have been having so much fun working on the story and I'm sure my readers will love this one! So stay tuned to my blog for this story.

About The Author of The Queen Collection

The Queen has a degree in English, and a Masters in Education. I'm a self-published author that draws on the experiences of life to create stories with universal themes. From an early age, I demonstrated a love for reading and writing. My favorite authors include: Maya Angelou, V.C. Andrews, Eric Jerome Dickey, and Carl Weber.

In 2015, I published my first work, To Death. To Death is a fictional text that details the events in a marriage plagued by emotional and physical abuse. The following year, 2016, I published an urban fiction work entitled Keeping What's Mine. The book explores the lengths individuals go through for the sake of love. This year, 2020, I published Being Broke is Expensive: The Single Parent's Guide to Multiple Streams of Income. This guide helps single parents use their unique skills and talents to bring home more income for their household.

I'm currently a curriculum developer and CEO of my own business. I'm the mother of two wonderful children. I also work as a freelance writer, online learning consultant, and tax consultant. When I'm not working, I enjoy cooking, writing, and spending time with family.
