Why doesn't anyone ask questions on Gilmore Girls??

extra thoughts

By Jazzy Published about a year ago 3 min read

I wrote a previous article where I brought some ideas from the first ocuple of seasons of Gilmore Girls, and now I am back to bring you some more ideas. Currently on season 4, and Rory just made it to Yale. Let us talk about what I have had some thoughts about. See below to see some of my original thoughts.

1. Why doesn't Lorelai or Rory ask Luke to tell them why they can't go to the wedding?

So this part really bugs me but why is it that Luke tells Rory, "don't go to the wedding," and Rory isn't like "why?" Part of me thinks that she was waiting for someone to give her a reason not to go; when Dean invited her to the wedding she was defintely uncomfortable. While they eventually became friends after the whole, she left him for Jess situation, I wasn't under the impression they were that close. Not to mention Rory had told him getting married was a great idea. Anyways, Rory didn't want to go, and why Luke said "don't go," that was all she needed to not go. However, I would have loved if Lorelai asked about it more, because I know I would have.

2. Lorelai not realizing that Luke liked her is just LUDICRIOUS

Not really much to say to that, it's just crazy to me that she didn't pick up on it. Luke basically would do anything for Lorelai, however we needed the whole will they/won't they storyline to make when they do get together that much sweeter.

3. Rory gives me peaked in high school but I feel like that is realistic and I am here for it

Rory was this small town girl who was the best and brightest; she was always told she was special and made to think she would continue to be special. Anyone who was in gifted and talented programs or advanced classes may relate to this, but really when the pond is small; it's super easy to be considered the best. Therefore when we see Rory get to Yale, we see that she is this fish out of water. She is awkward and finding herself, not to mention eventually it all becomes to much and she drops out. This to me is the most realistic part of the show. Of course, many people don't like the revivial but this theme continues into the revival. We see vagabond Rory still aimless and bouncing around finding a place; it is so refreshing to see a story where the main character doesn't get everything she thought she wanted and instead we find that she would become a staple to Stars Hallow, by taking over the newspaper.

4. I don't like how often Lorelai brings up how her parents dislike her for getting pregnant

Of course, this is the base of the program but everytime Lorelai mentions, "I'm the biggest disappointment to my parents because I got pregnant" I cringe, specifically when she says this in front of Rory. While I never get the feeling that Lorelai is intentionally trying to make Rory feel bad, I can't imagine it feels good for Rory to hear that. Inadvertently, it seems that might make Rory feel responible for the riff between her grandparents and her mother. As a woman who doesn't have a good relationship with her parents because she got pregnant young, I can't imagine I would ever make that statement to my child, ever. However, you never know, perhaps because Rory is older Lorelai feels like they can use humor to cope with this unfornate turn of events. Which very well may be the reason she makes these remarks; the remarks in question still don't sit well with me.

I’m loving these Gilmore girls reviews! Idk how they weren’t super curious about Luke’s ominous “don’t go to the wedding”, like I would’ve had to know😂 I reckon Lorelai did know deep down that luke liked her but she was just in denial because she wasn’t ready for it. Also I agree that part of Rory’s storyline was very accurate and not often done. I find it so relatable too😫 So often people act as though if you’re academic in school you’ll go great places but there’s so many other aspects to consider. Anyway please keep this Gilmore girls theme going!
