Thoughts on Gilmore Girls
some thoughts while I restart Gilmore Girls once again

September 1st or as many know it, the day most of us officially restart watching Gilmore Girls. I have to say, it was the middle of August when I decided to get a headstart on my viewing. I did however wait until September to start drinking anything remotely resembling anything pumpkin related. Speaking of which, I use canned pumpkin, pumpkin spice and heavy whipping cream to make the most amazing cold foam that rivials anything you can buy at Starbucks. Grab your drink of choice and let us start with some things I have noticed watching Gilmore Girls, now that I am a mother and a wee bit older.
1. Lorelai is so empathetic to Rory being a teenager and I wish I had a mom like that
What I think I love most about the series is that this mother and daughter combo is simply wholesome. Some people may say there are some codependency issues, but as a girl with no mother; I find it refreshing that a teenager has someone to talk to and rely on. Rory is so lucky to have a mom that understands that you do things like, have boyfriends and make mistakes. I was raised in a very strict household, that really frowned on making mistakes and I'm really glad to see that there are other options to being a parent. This is escapism for me. I do see some issues with the interplay of their relationship, however I am going to ignore those things willfully and happily; and wish that one day I could have a mother like that. (Luckily, my mother in law is really nice and very kind to me so, don't be too sad for me.)
2. Dean was so dull
I have to say the whole small town romance, and Rory's first boyfriend being amazing was a good storyline for about 2 seasons. Finally, when Jess comes into the situation we see some conflict that is *chefs kiss*. Not to mention, Dean getting mad that Rory didn't say I love you back right away, really upsets me. However, her kissing Tristen in between all of that, also just gives her some depth and I love that.
3. Gilmore Girls makes me want to dress better
The outfits these women wear are simply so cute! I never in my life have been fashionable but as of this moment I want to try. I have written before that I would be posting my outfits that I will be copying from the show and I promise to deliver on that this week!
4. Lorelai and her parents are so stubborn
Richard and Emily are wonderful in their own way, and as we see flashbacks from Lorelai's perspective I can see why she was alittle upset with them at times. Hwoever, I also notice, as I have worked on my communication and comflict resolution, that Lorelai and her parents simply seem to not understand what the other is trying to convey at times. They all can be extremely stubborn, and headstrong. I see conversations where they are trying so hard to tell each other they care, and yet the other can't seem to hear. This makes me sad to see play out on a screen, as I know that in my own relationships with my parents this is probably what happens. I loved in the revival that we saw Emily and Lorelai finally understanding eachother, and seeing that they can bend for each other.
5. Jess was Rory's first love
Dean may have been Rory's first boyfriend, but Jess was Rory's first love. You can see that even after two years with Dean her attraction to him was never as much as it was with Jess. Though I am willing to admit, she obvioulsy met Dean when she was younger and certain activities weren't on her mind; she never was as touchy with Dean as we see her with Jess. There are so many moments where you see Jess and Rory, holding hands or somplying touching, like her running her hand through his hair or briefly reaching out to give him a small smile. Perhaps, she learned how she wanted to love and be loved through trial and error with Dean; but the looks and mchemistry of Rory and Jess are unmatched. Which fun fact, that couple dated in real life for like 3 years.
These were only somethings I was thinking about when watching, however there are many more thoughts running through my head. For the interest of time, I kept this list small and will be back with more thoughts later! I would love to know what you think! Share in the comments!

well done
I’m so happy that it’s almost fall, and I cannot wait to have my first pumpkin flavored treat. I actually have never seen Gilmore Girls, but your overview of it has me thinking maybe I should give it a try. It’s really nice reading your work. Best wishes to you!
