What Are Your Favorite MCU Ships? Well, Here Are Mine.
Hey, Superheroes and Villians Can Have Love Lives Too
SPOILERS AHEAD
You know, superheroes and villains are cool (yes, I said Villians) and their lives are always so chaotic that it makes one wonder: how could they ever get around to form relationships and/or have families? Sure, we know dating and forming emotional bonds is one of the main weaknesses for superheroes which is why is so interesting seeing them get into one and deal with all the obstacles that come soon after. Nonetheless, it's practically impossible to hope they get their happily ever after.
Growing up, I read some Marvel comics that my dad had, but I was too little to really understand much until the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) came out. My initial liking to the comics allowed me to enjoy the movies as a kid even though my dad did complain about certain inaccurate things and as I grew up the more immersed I got into the fandom, thus I found out about Fanfiction. Which led me to discover so many ships I never thought I would go to love. And while some were represented on Tv, others were constructed from small scenes and or whims in fanfiction. And with the beautifully written works of dedicated fans, I finally got to read, feel, and explore how superheroes deal with their relationships. So, me being me, I bring to you twelve ships I am overly obsessed with within the MCU (some thanks to fics alone).
- Natasha Romanoff and Steve Rogers (Romanogers)

I don't care what anyone says, they should have ended up together. I've always wanted for them to be together given that their relationship, after Captain America: The Winter Soldier, there was this tension that should have been explored. For years I thought that was where we were headed, but no, they tried to give us Sharon and Steve and Bruce and Natasha. *gagging noises* They tried, they really tried.
Nat and Steve had amazing chemistry (shoutout to Scarlett's and Chris' long friendship) and they could have gone for that route. After all, in the comics, they have a son together and it would have been interesting to explore their relationship even if James Rogers could not be a thing in the MCU due to Natasha's inability to carry children *insert fics about how strong the supersoldier serum is*
I will forever be bitter that they did not get together at all, only make-it-better fics will heal the wound.
- Tony Stark and Pepper Potts (Pepperony)

I feel like this relationship is adored by everyone because Pepper is the only woman that can put Tony Stark in his place. And let's be all honest, they are the only couple the MCU worked hard on. They were given so many obstacles (see Iron Man 3 for reference), and they were the ones that could be seen constantly developing across multiple movies. But we all melted when in Avengers Endgame these two had Morgan. Let me tell you, I squealed like a pig when they showed us Morgan for the first time and how soft Tony was with her *cries 3000*
Tony and Pepper are probably my top canon ship just because I feel like they are the most realistic relationship we have in the films. The others? eh no so much.
- Wanda Maximoff and Vision (Scarlet Vision)

You see, they made it into the list only because I fell in love with them when WandaVision came out, before that though? I did not like them very much. Initially, I felt like Marvel wasn't putting much work on them to properly establish their relationship because a lot of people knew they were meant to be put together because that is canon in the comics, so I felt it lacked true chemistry. Then came their series and *boom* I was obsessed.
Wanda and Vision were finally worked on properly (even if it was after his death in Avengers: Infinity War) and after everything they had endured, the show did an amazing job at making us love them yet it hurt us at the reminder that it was all Wanda's devastating grief.
It's sad they did not get their happy ending, but with the introduction of the White Vision, maybe, just maybe, they will give Wanda a happy life.
- Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes (Stucky)

I know, I know. Whether you see this as queer-bating or not, there is no denying that Stucky is the most loved and wanted ship in the MCU fandom. Honestly, they are like Batman and Robin (especially if you contrast the similarities between them with comic lore).
I never really shipped them when I was younger (I was all for Steve and Peggy and then Steve and Natasha), but then I ventured into the rabbit hole that is fanfiction and I was never able to see their relationship as anything but an amazing friendship. Whether you read the fluff, angst, au, or smut *wink wink* Stucky just engraves in your brain, and then watching the movies only solidifies what you read because those two are undeniably close. And that being said, I hate, and I emphasize here, hate Steve's ending. I'm WiTh YoU 'tIlL tHe EnD oF tHe LiNe...*rolls eyes*
- Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes (SamBucky)

Okay, this one only became my favorite after The Falcon and The Winter Soldier came out. Before that, the only thing the fandom had was their interactions in Captain America: Civil War. But their Disney+ series did an amazing job with their friendship that it really does warm my heart. That, and I am a sucker for the hate-to-love/enemies-to-lovers trope.
Unlike Stucky, I don't necessarily see their dynamic as romantic. Sure, at times I giggle because I know how those who ship them romantically will work on fics based on certain scenarios presented by the series which means I still see that romantic potential thus why I added them to the list.
My only hope is that their friendship will grow to be as important to each other as their bond with Steve.
- Druig and Makkari (Drukkari)

Please, if you did not ship these two when watching Eternals, I cannot trust you. They stole the spotlight from Sersi's and Ikaris' established relationship.
If you are like me, you've seen the interviews with the cast which means that you know these two weren't meant to be seen as a couple, heck, they are not even mentioned to actually be one in the movie at all. It was all due to Barry Keoghan and Lauren Ridloff and their amazing chemistry on set that Director, Chloé Zhao, decided to let them just roll with it and just make them flirt--well, Druig, mostly.
For me, it all started with just admiring how beautiful both Barry and Lauren are, but then they started interacting and I was just grinning because they were so cute and then the whole "My beautiful, beautiful Makkari. Did you miss me?" killed me. Let's also mention when the whole movie theater thought Druig was dead and Makkari let out an actual pained attempt of a grief-filled cry that hurt us all. Which was then all fixed with their foreheads softly touching when they had their reunion soon after stopping the emergence.
What I'm trying to say here is, Drukkari for life.
- Loki and Wanda Maximoff (ScarletFrost or Frostwitch)

This ship is literally only based upon reading fanfiction. There's literally no interaction between either of them in the movies but is the fact that they are both so powerful that shipping them, and making Wanda either a full-fledged villain or a sweetheart that warms the Frost Giant's heart, does nothing but make me love to see them together.
I'll be honest, I thought it was weird at first, and then the more I read fics where the Avengers just took care of Loki after the events of New York and proceeded to meet everyone else little by little, I just couldn't help myself but like what I was reading. It is not for everybody, sure, but it is for me. And I'm lowkey obsessed.
- Peter Parker and Michelle Jones (Spideychelle)

Please, this is purely based on my obsession with both Zendaya's and Tom's friendship (now relationship *squeals*). I cannot tell you if I ever was like 'omg, Peter and MJ are meant to be!' I just know that I saw Zendaya and then I discovered Tom Holland and I wanted them together. Even if that only occurred in the movies, which it did, and now also IRL.
But that aside, I do hope they show me more of their relationship because Peter Parker doesn't have the best luck when it comes to it (see Mary Jane Watson, Gwen Stacy, and Liz Allen for reference).
- Wanda Maximoff and Bucky Barnes (Winterwitch)

Again, purely based on fanfiction. I think, for me, it is the whole 'they are broken but together they can put their pieces back together' that works for me. I am a sucker for the broken white boy with dark hair (see Bucky Barnes, Loki, and Druig), and Wanda is super powerful (even though the MCU Wanda has nothing on comic Wanda but in fanfiction, she comes close), and her being this soft yet dominate over her broken white boy just does things to me.
You know what, I think I am just a sucker for Wanda and Elizabeth Olsen.
- Loki and Sylvie (Sylki)

And last, but not least, these two. And no, it is not considered i*cest because, for one, they are literally the same person, and two, what part of 'variant' did you not get? If anything this is just to show you how narcissistic Loki is that he/she/they is(are) only capable of loving himself/herself/themselves.
Besides, it is really something seeing these two emotionally challenged individuals learn to, practically, love themselves like you can either take it as a positive message that you can learn to love and understand yourself or literally love yourself to the point if given the opportunity you would fall in love with you because nobody can love you best but you.
In conclusion: I have some cute and weird ships, but hey! isn't interesting to see them go through mundane and/or unrealistic obstacles that we normies could never fathom?
