Kabby Borders as Kelsey Montgomery

So far, 2025 has been quite fruitful in the world of Lifetime movies. The villainesses have been delicious, amazing, and unforgettable, and so have some of the films. Among the gems that Lifetime and LMN have given us is this nice true, My Family's Killer Affairs. This was just an amazing film with awesome twists, and another amazing first, so let's get to it.

The film starts innocently enough. Angry teenage girl, Janell Montgomery, has it out with her mother, Gabi. Says she wishes she was dead. Sure enough, mother ends up deceased. Gabi's husband, Matthew Montgomery, finds his wife deceased, and suspicion appears to be pointed towards Janell. Oh, before I forget. Janell actually turns out to be the biological daughter of Nikki Longford, whose egg ended up donated to a different woman by mistake, and that resulted in Janell being born.

We do meet the entire Montgomery family, which is revealed to include Kelsey (Matthew's sister and Janell's aunt). All the while, Erica Longford (Nikki's daughter) doesn't seem to be getting used to having a biological sister, whose suspicion around her increased with the revelation that Matthew paid Thomas (Janell's boyfriend) to provide a false alibi for Janell. Thomas actually knows what really happened regarding Gabi's murder, but he'll never get to tell it. He gets knocked off. The plot thickens.

We also see Nikki's boutique get robbed, because of course it does in a Lifetime movie, and elsewhere, we learn that Kelsey's in a relationship with Carter, who works for Matthew at his dealership. However, there is a twist. Turns out, Carter was messing around with Gabi many months ago, and a confrontation between Carter and Kelsey reveals the latter knew about it. We almost got another reveal, but Kelsey did stop herself. Even so, it's pretty clear to the viewers who the killer is, and it's even more clear to Erica and Janell, who put two and two together as they enter Matthew's house, and confront Kelsey with everything.

So yeah, Kelsey's your killer. She found out about the affair, confronted Gabi (who admitted it and revealed her plan to tell Matthew), and it ended with Kelsey angrily shoving Gabi, causing Gabi to hit her head and get killed. The murder happened six months prior to the events, and Kelsey was in the clear... until Thomas found out the truth. Kelsey killed Thomas to continue to cover her tracks, and during her maniacal confession, Kelsey claimed to be wracked with guilt, but she held Erica at knifepoint and was hellbent on continuing to get away with her murderous actions. She even threatened to kill Erica if Janell didn't send an incoming Nikki away from the house. Nikki saw Kelsey threatening Erica, leading Janell to reveal the truth about Kelsey, who ordered Nikki to help her get away. Kelsey would be stopped by Janell, who struck her crazed aunt with a skillet.

My Family's Killer Affairs aired on Lifetime Movie Network on January 24, 2025, and the film featured Kabby Borders as the deranged Kelsey Montgomery. Once again, another longtime Lifetime movie veteran finally takes on her first villainous role, and it was a delicious one. Kelsey was absolutely unhinged and insane, and she covered it up with the typical "sweet-natured aunt" personality. We did see hints of Kelsey's insanity in her confrontation with Carter, and it finally came out in the climax with her confession and her obsessive need to get away with everything--a need that even saw her stab her own brother (who survived) during the confrontation.

Borders is an amazing actress anyway, and I'll be honest, I always point out certain Lifetime movie actresses and wish for them to play a villainess. Among them, the actress who played Nikki in this film: April Martucci (my kingdom for Martucci to play a villainess finally). I've never thought that Kabby Borders would ever be evil in a Lifetime film, yet there she was, and she absolutely shined and delivered a very beautiful performance when it came to Kelsey's psychotic nature. Borders' other Lifetime films include one of my favorites, Devious Nanny, where she was one of the victims of an evil Michelle Borth, and she was also in My Two Husbands and The Killer With No Name, among a few others. Borders has another Lifetime film coming up soon, Shattered Vows, which also stars Christie Leverette.
