This Week’s Anime Recap: Series I Completed
Week 2 of 52 — Jan 8–15 2025

This is week 2 of this new series that I am going to do all year because I am insane. It would be fun to review the anime I finish each week. Believe it or not, I finish more anime than I have time to write about so these will be brief recaps. I will be sure to link the full reviews when I write them as well.
If you haven’t been following along, check out day 15 of my 30-day anime challenge!
I hope you enjoy week two! I’d love to hear what you watched this week too.

Haikyuu! Season 2
Storyline: After losing his first and last volleyball match against Tobio Kageyama, “the King of the Court,” Shoyo Hinata swears to become his rival after graduating from middle school. But what happens when the guy he wants to defeat ends up being his teammate?!
Info: 89 Episodes and a Movie
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Sports
My Review: I watched season one back in 2023 and loved it. It has an engaging storyline, with characters you can’t help but fall in love with, and it inspires you to work hard for your dreams. Why I didn’t watch season 2 right away I have no idea, However this past week I thought I should watch it and almost binged through season 2 in a day.
I know nothing about volleyball and can’t even say I have watched a game, which is why I thought I wouldn’t like Haikyu!! But I have come to find out there is so much more to this story.
This show is also hilarious and has so many out-of-pocket random funny moments.
I don’t feel like I can’t write fully about this anime, as I am only halfway in. This will be one that I will finish sooner rather than later and might even get me into the sports anime genre, as you will see from the anime I watched this week.

One Piece — Fish Man Island Saga
Storyline: Long ago the infamous Gol D. Roger was the strongest pirate on the seas. As he was about to be executed he revealed that he hid all of his wealth, including the legendary treasure known as One Piece, on an island at the end of the Grand Line — a treacherous and truly unpredictable sea. Monkey D. Luffy is a spirited, energetic, and somewhat dim-witted young man with a very big dream: to find One Piece and become the Pirate King! However, Luffy is no ordinary boy, as when he was younger he ate one of the Devil’s Fruits and gained its power to become a Rubber Man. Now in this grand age of pirates, Luffy sets out to gather a crew and sail to the most dangerous sea in the world so that he can fulfill his dream… and maybe even his appetite!
Info: 1122+
Genre: Comedy, Adventure, Shounen
My Review: Besides The Sky Island Saga this Saga took the longest for me to watch. It wasn’t a bad sage, I enjoyed it a lot. However other anime keep catching my attention and I just stopped watching One Piece for a bit. I think Jinbei might be one of my new favorite characters. I started to like his character when he first appeared, and I thought they gave him a very in-depth backstory.
We also learn about the fishman pirates and their start. You want to be on the Fishemen’s side, against slavery and the injustice done to them by the Celestial Dragons. But you are also conflicted. Is fighting violence with violence the answer to ending their suffering? That is what ended up breaking the Brotherhood of Fishmen into 3 different pirate crews.
I loved the scenery in this saga. The underwater city was very well done and beautiful to look at. It reminded me a lot of Ponyo with the bright colors and creative fish.
Side note: I am behind writing about One Piece. Just know I went from watching none of One Piece to over 500 episodes in under 3 months. I watched way faster than I could write but I will catch up to where I am in the show soon.

Horimiya Missing Pieces
Storyline: Relive iconic moments between the characters of Horimiya that have not yet been adapted to anime!
Info: Horimiya 12 Episodes and Horimiya Missing Pieces 13 Episodes
Genre: Comedy Romance
Rating: TV-14
My Review: I loved this show when I first watched it. I loved it so much that I got the manga. One night I couldn’t sleep so I read through the first few volumes which made me want to watch the anime again. I binged through the whole show that night and then the additional show the next day. I am a sucker for slice-of-life comedy but this one completely changed the game. The art was simple but had so many unique characters, and the story was light-hearted and fun! My favorite part was they nailed the don’t judge a book by its cover, you saw each character develop into their unique personalities and overcome their stereotypes. If you need a good laugh I’d recommend watching this asap!!

Shows I watched this week but haven’t finished
Insomniacs After School
Dungeon People
Sakamoto Days
Magic Maker: How to make magic in another world
Zenshu
Attack on Titan season 4
Natsume's book of friends
I hope you don’t think this is bragging in any way, I almost think it is embarrassing how much I can watch in a single week. Anime is meant to be enjoyed. If you watch one show in a year or 100 in a week doesn’t change the fact that it’s there for our enjoyment. I work remotely, and I stay home a lot, so I have anime on at 1.5x speed for most of my day which is how I can watch so much. Keep in mind a 12-episode show is only 2 hours for my broken brain. I also have mental issues that I don’t want to deal with right now, so instead of sitting in my thoughts, I have anime playing which helps my mentality stay positive, which has worked better than anything else I have tried.
This is also why I love blogging. Whether you have read 1 of my blogs or all of them I appreciate it and hope I have been entertaining you. I wonder if I can keep up with this daily posting schedule. What would you like to read about if I were to keep posting daily? Anime reviews? Lists of anime recommendations? Another anime challenge? Blogs like these? I’d love some ideas! Let me know in the comments below.
What anime have you watched this week? Any good recommendations for me?
