The Young and the Restless Update: Chelsea is stunned by Adam's proposal and cannot commit

Adam proposes a business arrangement

Friday on The Young and the Restless, Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) will misread a situation. She will panic when Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) asks her a question during a romantic lunch at Society. She assumes he wants her to be his wife and thinks it's too soon to consider marriage. Adam, however, has something different on his mind.

He wants his former spouse, the mother of his son, to work alongside him at Newman Media as COO. Ms. Lawson does not feel qualified for the position and believes this is not a good idea. Adam explains why he thinks she's the right person to be his partner, and tells her that she understands his quirks and can challenge him when there is a need.

Chelsea has reservations about Adam's offer

Chelsea reminds Adam that he had a previous romantic and professional partnership with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), which was not successful. Y&R fans will recall how difficult it was for Adam and Sally in the bedroom and the boardroom. They seemed to try so hard, but Chaddam flows together at least as a couple.

He will tell her that things will be different for the two of them, and he gets down on one knee to formally ask her to be his Chief Operating Officer. The restaurant patrons are watching and assume Adam is asking Chelsea to marry him. She is so embarrassed that she pleads with him to return to his seat.

Chelsea will not give Adam an immediate answer, which is a wise decision. She will need some time to consider this offer, and he promises not to push. He gets down on one knee again. This time, he jokingly proposes they order flatbread, and Chelsea will be embarrassed all over again. She acknowledges that his proposal means a lot and kisses him.

There may be some obstacles in the way

The Society patrons are still watching and assume she has said yes to marriage, so they begin to applaud. Is it possible for Chaddam to combine the bedroom and the boardroom? What will Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) think and will he try to interfere? Spoilers say this will be a tough decision for Chelsea, and she will have to think long and hard about it.

Will she decide to work side by side with her son's father, or will she believe it's better if someone else gets the position? Adam kept his word about not pushing Chelsea for a relationship when she moved in with him so they could be a family for Conner Newman (Judah Mackey).

Is Adam capable of not applying pressure about Newman Media, and will he respect her decision if she decides to say no? This could be the beginning of a fantastic work and personal relationship, or it could go wrong and lead to the end of the couple.

Perhaps Chloe could be the answer

This would be a good time for Chloe Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson) to return to the screen and offer her friend sage advice. Thus far, Chelsea has not listened where Adam is concerned, but it's always fun to see Chloe try to dissuade her. If Chelsea turns Adam down, she might even recommend her bestie, who once worked with him before.

If Chelsea accepts the offer, Chloe might panic and point out that a marriage proposal could follow. She would work overtime trying to convince her friend to say no. Stay tuned to The Young and the Restless to learn what Chelsea decides and whether Adam is pleased or disappointed.
